Has BO's stimulus plan affected your job?
Directly, indirectly or not at all?
I haven't seen any hiring increases in private industry, still have companies in Minnesota laying people off, still have hundreds of people applying for every job. This is what I see, not what the media is reporting.

Yes. Our lab received NIH funding after the increase in government funded scientific research. So, I guess you could say some jobs were "sustained" as we would have lost a couple of post doctoral fellows and a couple of research technicians had we not received the grant funding. The same goes for many others in the research community.

Yes. Banks all over got bailout money, allowing them to stay afloat, but credit unions aren't eligible, so we've had to go it alone, with an uneven playing field created by government intrusion.

Our parking is fucked, since we are building a new $80,000,000 US Courthouse in our parking lot. But the guys working on it don't look to pissed off about it.

It's about to. We got stimulus money for smart grid improvements to our electric system.

When taxes go up to pay for all of this foolishness as they surely will, I'm sure my savings will be reduced by those taxes. And as I am living off of those savings I'm sure I will be affected.

Re: Has BO's stimulus plan affected your job?
The $8k first time homebuyer tax credit has really helped my business... but unfortunately for Obama that was a Bush admin policy that the Obama admin/congress has extended/finetuned and is now taking credit for.
Frankly I don't care whose idea it was... but if you looked at my earnings from 2007-2008-2009 the curve would look like somebody dropped a superball off the Empire State Building, and unlike many in my industry, I had enough $$$ saved to outlast the bad times.

BO's "plan" hasn't stimulated the formation of any more Delaware corporations or LLCs, that's for sure.

Since I'm semi-retired, it's had little effect on me personally...although...the machinist we use to build/repair our race car chassis has been buying large machine equipment at fire sale prices...tons of manufacturing businesses going under...so...that's good for us.
One significant side effect will be a thinning of the herd for publicly held business. I've noticed with declining sales, many retailers/suppliers are increasing markup to cover their margins...which will inevitably build their competitors. It's a pretty hot topic out here in CA...everyone I've spoken with notices it.
I've said it before, just as with the service industry, creating so-called "green jobs" DOES NOT add to our GDP. Obama and Congress JUST DON'T GET IT.
Until they resolve the regulatory impediments which have been driving manufacturing/agriculture/natural resource industries to relocate elsewhere, this mess will NEVER improve.

Yeah because the public should give away it's resources and clean up the mess.travelinman67 wrote:

You are such a socio-fascist.
Government has had defacto control of key production industries for the past 40 years through its omniscent regulatory bureaucracy, taxation and environmental extortion. You clearly know not what you speak.
As I said before, you obviously are young and inexperienced. That's not a dis', merely an observation of your limited knowledge.
Obama's (CAP's) TARP/Stimulus agenda demonstrated the liberals desire to control the direction of American business, by restricting non-infrastructure/social expenditures to facilitating ONLY business development which participates in so-called "green" development.
It's this type of governmental intervention within the private sector that further handicaps GDP contributory industries.
kalm...I realize you've been exclusively exposed to liberal philosophy education and media, but you'd do yourself a favor by opening your eyes and studying our nation's economic trends prior to and in the 40 years after 1972.
Don't believe me...go do your homework and study America's GDP over the past 65 years.
Two things occurred in '72 which drastically handicapped U.S. GDP. First, OPEC conducted their first oil embargo, which switched the energy market from a pure supply/demand paradigm, into a supplier's controlled market. Second, Congress passed the Clean Air Act, which was the cornerstone of hundreds of "environmental" laws targeting "polluters" not with the intent of reform and reclamation, but intending to eliminate types of industries deemed non-environmental friendly. This latter policy, has been exploited by extremists unaware of the serious consquences resulting from their "N'th degree" pursuit of industries they perceive as not having a "pro-environment" focus.
Et Voila! Here we are in the midst of our country's greatest economic catastrophe: Drowning in debt to our creditors whom (coincidentally) are the country's who've placed principle emphasis on developing their GDP contributory industries.
Who'd a thunk?

What you're saying only makes sense if a country's resources and the public money spent on infrastructure which supports those industries, and the pollution and other external costs those industries create are off the books.
And/or you believe in perpetual growth.
Otherwise you're a commie.
