Big Trade On Horizon?

Post by UNHWildCats »

The latest grouping of players in the Yankees/Tigers/DBacks negotiations are..

Yanks get Curtis Granderson
Dbacks get Edwin jackson, Ian Kennedy
Tigers get Scherzer, Schlereth, Austin Jackson, Phil Coke

Surprising that the Yanks refused to even talk about Austin Jackson for Halladay but will include him to get Granderson.

Is that Mark Schlereths kid who played for Arizona? Didn't realize he was up in the majors already.

Please, I beg of you Cashman, make Phil Coke go away. I don't care WHO we get, just get rid of him.

deal done.

early consensus seems to be...

Tigers win by a mile. Yankees get solid player who could be great at new stadium.

DBacks? What the fuck were they thinking.

So its pretty clear now that Johnny Damon isn't coming back to the Yanks or if he is, he won't be an everyday player.

I would imgaine they'd move Cabrera to left and put Granderson in CF.

on twitter the consensus is he could come back as the primary DH next season.

I'd rather have Matsui as the DH, but I'm probably in the minority on that one.

My guess is that the feel Damon gives them a better player on the bases and if he can replicate his power numbers again next year he and Matsui are virtually the same power wise. Damon also gives them a better fielder should they need him to play in the OF occasionally, though im not sure how his arm compares to Matsui.

Matsui will be back. He represents a huge revenue stream from Japan, and he's more popular now than ever. Business.
