Steelers can beat Favre and the Vikings but can't hold it together to knock off Cleveland?

Injuries.
But since you mentioned it, how do you know that Delhomme isn't playing hurt?
Re: Damn, The Steelers Are HOT!!!
You may be right about Delhomme - I think he's had a concussion since the Cardinals playoff game last season, because he can't remember whether to pass to the home jerseys or away.....BlueHen86 wrote:I was talking about the Steelers, which is why I only bolded that part of the statement.ASUG8 wrote:

Speaking of the Cardinals, it looks they are going to do something this year that doesn't happen very often - make the playoffs the year after a Super Bowl loss.ASUG8 wrote:You may be right about Delhomme - I think he's had a concussion since the Cardinals playoff game last season, because he can't remember whether to pass to the home jerseys or away.....BlueHen86 wrote:

I like the NFL, but so much has to happen for team to be competitive. They have to stay healthy, they also have to maintain an emotional edge (stay hungry). I think losing the emotional edge happens to teams that lose the Super Bowl as well as teams that get off to a bad start. I think the Panthers got off to a bad start, and haven't been able to right to ship.

Thanks UNH - looks like history will repeat itself for the Steelers
Re: Damn, The Steelers Are HOT!!!
Steelers are not eliminated playoffs yet, although that is certainly a long shot. As it stands now Jacksonville and Denver will get the wildcards, but they could both easily fall on their faces opening up wildcard spots for Miami, NYJ, B'more & Pittsburgh. The Pat's could also just eas easily tank...they only have a 1 game lead in the AFC East. There are still plenty of games left to be played.

The AFC wildcard race right now:bandl wrote:Steelers are not eliminated playoffs yet, although that is certainly a long shot. Denver 8-4, 6-3 vs. AFC
Jacksonville 7-5, 6-2 vs. AFC
Baltimore 6-6, 6-4 vs. AFC
Miami 6-6, 4-4 vs. AFC
NY Jets 6-6, 5-5 vs. AFC
Pittsburgh 6-7, 4-6 vs. AFC
If the Steelers win out and finish 9-7 (6-6 vs. AFC):
-They win a tie breaker over Denver by virtue of having beaten them already this year
-They lose a tie breaker to Jacksonville since Jacksonville will have a better recond against AFC teams (if Jacksonville finishes 9-7 they will be 8-4 vs. AFC)
-They win a tie breaker over Miami since they will have to beat them to finish 9-7
-They lose a head-to-head tie breaker against Baltimore, since the Ravens will have a better division record, they might still have a chance if they are in a three way tie with the Ravens and someone else.
-It's too soon to tell how a tie with the Jets will work out.
The Steelers aren't dead, but they need a lot of help.

I wasn't trying to disagree with you, you are 100% correct, I was just spelling it out for those who cared.bandl wrote:Right, hence what I said "Steelers are not eliminated playoffs yet, although that is certainly a long shot"BlueHen86 wrote:

Yeah, but Hen used a lot more words, some numbers, and "vs" several times, so we REALLY believed him.bandl wrote:Right, hence what I said "Steelers are not eliminated playoffs yet, although that is certainly a long shot"BlueHen86 wrote:

Re: Damn, The Steelers Are HOT!!!
My wife lived in Pittsburgh when I met her, and her parents lived there through the 70's SB wins. So that side of the family is all about the Steelers. I don't mind the Steelers...they are a respectable franchise and they generally do things the right way (not withstanding Big Ben's stupid antics the last few years). But I also don't mind seeing them fall down a bit...
it helps keep their fans in check somewhat, at least until they pull the Yankee-like crap of "6 times"

Hell, I'm surprised that I got all the teams correct who are still in the wildcard run!
No. That was all my own work.
Which means it's probably wrong.

Re: Damn, The Steelers Are HOT!!!
The Steelers are exactly playing well enough to even give them a benefit of the doubt to go 9-7... they just lost to the fucking Browns. lol And its not even like they have cupcakes left... though looking at last night having cupcakes may not even help.
