I was going to talk smack but...........
Ok....here's the deal. I was lurking around the boards all week heading into this game. In fact I wasted hours and hours.....I was excited and caught up in the hype and smack talk. Now don't get me wrong....Championshipsubdivision.com has some of the classiest posters out there. Sure there is smack talking, but all in good fun.
I made the mistake of going to http://forums.delphiforums.com/appstate/messages/, and was reading up on all the smack, "Montana hasn't played a quality team, they have a light schedule, you haven't played against Armani" crap......also "the noise won't be a factor, the weather won't be a factor, we will hand you your ass".
Anyway, it took all I had to not sign up on those boards and start throwing smack back at them about how Montana is the winning-est team in Division 1 in this decade. How we have went to the Playoffs for 17 STRAIGHT YEARS, etc, etc.....
I decided to not do this as I would only be as bad as the douche bags that posted that crap. I decided to let Montana post my remarks by doing today what I knew they could do all week long..........beat App State.
Sure I could say our crowd made a difference. Sure I could say we ran Chase all over them. Sure I could say we limited Armani to very little of anything (which we did......and BTW is an awesome player, and will go far). Sure I could see we wanted it more then them.......but I won't. App State played there hearts out, and there fans were great.
All I can say is that we are 14-0................and we will finish this next week....like I have been saying all along.
I only hope that after tonight, The Montana Grizzlies will get the respect they deserve. I don't want to hear anymore excuses from all the other losers why we are the #1 seed. The fact of the matter is that the 2009 Grizzlies, after next week, will shut the nay sayers up, and take possession of their 3rd national title......and more wins then any Div 1 team in the past 10 years.
Go Griz

History has shown that even if Montana wins next week, the naysayers will still question their schedule. My advice would be to stop worrying about what others think or say and just enjoy the on field performance.

My thoughts exactly. IF we win next week, we'll have beaten a team from every major FCS conference to win the NC, but the clenzs and DJHs of the world will still try poo-poo the accomplishment. But at that point, I wouldn't really give a shit.BlueHen86 wrote:History has shown that even if Montana wins next week, the naysayers will still question their schedule. I agree with all of this and really don't give a crap about what everyone else says. And I DO enjoy the on-field performance. My point was that regardless of what anyone says, we have the most wins, and some of the most sincere fans in the country.

I agree. Their boards are saying that App needs to play a weak schedule to "buy" home games like Montana does because if this game was in Boone, they win by 14+. I ticks me off that comments like that cheapen a great game by two of the best suppported programs in the FCS
"Born in other countries, yet believing you could be happy in this, our laws acknowledge, as they should do, your right to join us in society, conforming, as I doubt not you will do, to our established rules. That these rules shall be as equal as prudential considerations will admit, will certainly be the aim of our legislatures, general and particular." --Thomas Jefferson, letter to Hugh White, 1801

The MMB is a homer board...why would you be shocked? That's why I didn't visit egriz...what's the point? I don't have any smack to talk, I'm not on the field. No need for it. Most "informed" fans know what Montana is and didn't talk smack about the Griz, same way with Montana fans. But, every team has those morons who just learned about FCS football and talk shit...it is what it is.TXGRIZZFAN wrote:Ok....here's the deal. It's real simple Griz fans:
Win on Friday and all the naysayers will have to eat crow. You'll have nothing left to prove, having beaten the best the SoCon and CAA offer, including the latter outside the friendly confines of Wa-Griz.
Lose and all the question marks remain.

Then apparently every team from the CAA except Villanova should have questions too, since none of THEM will win the NC. Perhaps all those weak OOC schedules and money games finally caught up to the rest of the CAA.93henfan wrote:It's real simple Griz fans:

Seriously....After about the first round of the playoffs, when it's down to the final 8 teams, NO team has to hang their head after defeat. These teams are all so evenly matched, there's no clearly superior team. There's no shame in losing....this weekend or next.

Montana has nothing left to prove either way. They are consistently one of the top FCS programs. The only people questioning them are either talking smack (and they will smack the Griz no matter what) or just plain uninformed.93henfan wrote:It's real simple Griz fans:

Exactly. Its just fun to give the Griz a hard time because they make it every single year, where most of our teams make it every few years if we are lucky.BlueHen86 wrote:Montana has nothing left to prove either way. The collective psyche of the Griz Nation is embattled...
But ultimately it's that defensive mental position that makes the whole thing work
That game (event) on Saturday showed all of FCS what real FCS football can be like - and I'm talking about hoopla, attendance and atmosphere followed by amazing football...
It is UNMATCHED at this level - ESPN knows it, the FCS knows it and NCAA knows it

You might want to check out the box score on this one - AE had 407 yards of total offense alone. Given that, I'm surprised we only got 17 points out of it. Great game anyway, and congrats!TXGRIZZFAN wrote: Sure I could say our crowd made a difference. Sure I could say we ran Chase all over them. That really has been our M.O. all year. We give up the yds. but once a team is inside the 20 it is very hard for them to get points. We just somehow make the plays to keep it from happening. I thought it would be much less likely that we would be able to keep Armanti from knicking us up a little more than the 17 though.ASUG8 wrote:You might want to check out the box score on this one - AE had 407 yards of total offense alone. Agreed. They may not have had the dominating runs of Youngstown, Georgia Southern or ASU, but they have been one of the top two or three programs much longer than any other.

The '90-'93 Buffalo Bills had a heck of a run too. Respect only come with Championships, not regular season wins. Just ask Jim Kelly, the Michigan & OSU teams of '70-'80 that lost Rose Bowls to the PAC10 every year (except OSU '74) and '91-93 Nebraska. Regular season wins get you the opportunity. Greatness is defined by Championships.

Whiny, not whiney. Second there was no "whiny" involved, just a statement of fact. Quick whining and win it rather playing the Atlanta Braves.AZGrizFan wrote:Well, if we won it EVERY year, then we'd have to deal with all the whiney little CAA bitches....jd of de wrote:The '90-'93 Buffalo Bills had a heck of a run too.
