I do NOT have the ability to check in remotely, and must stand in line each time, show my passport or other government issued ID, and am constantly subjected to additional security checks. The 9-11 hijackings were successful because the procedures at the time left the un-reinforced doors unlocked...and if a hijacker asked they were brought forward to the flight cabin to negotiate...

Well, we now know there was no negotiation intended on that Tuesday...but if the doors had been reinforced like they are now (and had been recommended long before 9-11) and the flight crew refused to open the door even if people were threathened (as they are suppose to do now)...the attack would have failed...some flight attendants and/or passengers might have been cut or killed with the box cutters, but the planes would not have been flown into buildings...

Hind sight is so 20/20....

But that is the problem. In all likelyhood the flight crew would have opened the door since the mindset at the time was to cooperate and negotiate with hijackers in order to insure the safety of the passengers.


Post 9-11 there is no way a flight crew would open the door. I think reinforcing the doors and putting locks on them is a great idea, but I'm not sure they would have prevented 9-11 had they been in place at that time.

Exactly right. I'll bet every person on those planes was expecting to be inconvenienced by a side trip to Cuba and ransom negotiations, nothing more.

The new paradigm is also why it is vital that pilots not be armed. As long as guns can be kept off planes, the passengers can take care of problems in the seating area.

I stare at people who are of obvious MIddle Eastern descent or dressed in Muslim garb. I stare at the motherfvckers. When they get up to go to the sh!tter, I act like I'm standing up to follow them. Families with children, obvious businessmen, women, the whole lot. I truly hope I make the cocksuckers as uncomfortable as a one legged man in an ass kicking contest. Maybe one day they will get a clue and stop donating money to CAIR and their fvcking second cousins in Lebanon. When I was a cop, I used to look right at them while I informed the stewardesses that I was a cop and if they needed anything I would be in seat 12-C.
