Clear sailing for the Democrats was the forcast a few weeks ago...but there may be storm clouds brewing on the horizon...

A few weeks back, Time magazine was musing that John McCain was in danger of sliding from “a long shot” to a “no-shot.” Around the same time, a hard-nosed former Hillary Clinton insider declared the race “effectively over” thanks to the McCain campaign’s ineptitude, the tanking U.S. economy and Obama’s advantages in cash, charisma and hope. And Obama, up by three to six points nationally, was about to leverage a much-anticipated trip to Iraq, Afghanistan and Europe into a pre-convention poll surge.

Instead, his supporters are now suffering a pre-Denver panic attack, watching as John McCain draws incrementally closer in state and national polls – with Rasmussen’s most recent daily national tracker showing a statistical dead heat.

I'm amazed at how you discount the utter devastation your party and the Bush Administration has inflicted on this country and the world. Like people are going to forget this?

I think a lot of people, including those that will be voting for the first time, will vote for the other white meat this November.

1) Baby Boomers have fvcked up the country
2) Republicans have gotten so much bad press that the Democrats have many people in thier corner soley b/c they aren't Republicans.
3) No matter who wins, a white man will be in Office(or 1/2 a white man).
4) I put on fo my city, that's a muthafvckin fact.
5) I ride spinners, they don't stop
6) Americans believe that a new face in the White House and an unlikely face will help spur change. Change doesn't stop at the election, it merely starts.

They haven't fokked it up as much as McCain's generation.....my parents generation.....the first generation whose offspring will not have it as well as they did......our parent's antipathy to what is going on in Washington and gullibility to fall for "bumper sticker" politics has led this country to where it is now.....sorry.....hell, i get pissed at my dad about the shit all the time......he'll bitch about polititcs and then go pull the lever for the same old shit he always pulls a lever for.......they should take away your right to vote when you start collecting SS.....

What I find interesting is that you'd rather blame those with "blissful ignorance" than those who actually FORMED groups like ELF, etc. THOSE are the wackos I'm talking about. I think, as is typically the case, the generation we speak of had their eye on the Russian ball, and neglected issues fermenting on the homefront. Then, by the time anyone DID realize there was an issue, the seeds of discontent had been sown and there was really no turning back. So, I guess in hindsight Patton was right. If we'd have just continued on into Moscow in 1945, things would look a LOT different now (and there'd be a few more Georgians alive today....)

No....I'd actually rather blame those who were creating the policies back then......and the one's who voted them in......our woes are not caused by ALF, ELF, Earth First!.....THAT'S disingenuous to say the least.....these groups have been nothing but a blip on this country's radar for what...last 15 years? Sure they were blinded by the Cold war to an extent, but it still doens't justify the debt they placed upon this generation and future geneations with their massive pork barrel spending projects.....and the sheeple kept voting hem in off of bumper sticker slogans and fear....

Pre-Viet Nam, I'm not sure the majority of Americans even paid attention to politics. And post-Viet Nam, the number is only slightly higher. Most people just want to be left alone. I know my mom and dad never voted for YEARS because they'd just cancel each other's vote out. True, they only had two candidates to vote for, but here's a newsflash for you: THE BABY BOOMERS DIDN'T INVENT THE TWO PARTY SYSTEM. So, take your distain and your blame game and move it back about a hundred years. When the third party went away, so did choice (to an extent). Trying to get that back is like pissin' in the wind.
