The Done-A-Von McNobb Legacy As A QB Thread..

Post by Wedgebuster »

After the very lengthy and lavishly slobbered on discussion by the all African-American panel on the NFL Networks pre-playoff game show yesterday about the infinitely great and soon to be first ballot HOF QB Donovan McNabb, and the subsequent suckage of same in the actual game played, I am asking myself;

Self, when if ever have you actually seen any sign of this inferred "greatness" that is constantly extolled on by my melanin enhanced bros mooning on the various sports talk shows regarding McNabb and other easily forgotten great dark hopes at the same position??? Last week, one of them mentioned Randal Cunningham in the same breath as Payton Manning, John Elway, and Joe Montana.......Randal Cunningham??

C'MON Man!!

At least bring up Doug Williams who actually did lead a team to the NFL title, or Warren Moon who did in fact excel as a pinpoint passer years ago, Randal Cunningham??

I believe Donovan will ply his trade elsewhere next year. Like Chicago. :|

Warren Moon....best black QB to every play in the NFL. Probably top 7 or 8 in history.

McNabb chokes in big games. He is too inaccurate.

I agree he chokes in the playoffs, however I do believe he is a Hall of Fame player. He hasn't had much to work with in terms of WRs hes throwing to, but he still gets the job done.

Yup, this is the plight of McNabb... he never had a top caliber receiver until Owens (Though Pinkston and FredEx may disagree) and is still one of the top 20 QB's of all time.

Third in winning percentage among active QBs
Least intercepted QB of all time, 2nd best TD to INT ratio.
Top 20 all time in numerous Statistical categories

Best QB the eagles have ever had.

I agree with all that unfortunately for him the most remembered things about McNabb are Rush, Chunky's, and choking and puking in the playoffs.

McNabb is an above average QB, but I don't think he belongs in the HOF just yet. He is too inconsistent. He also seems to lack the emotional toughness that great QB's have. He is quick to deflect blame and point fingers after a loss. I know that he has not had the weapons that other QB's have had, but on the other hand, when McNabb has been hurt his back ups have been able to win.

He can still make the HOF, he has a few years left in him. I don't know if I want him back with the Eagles next year or not. I'm leaning in favor of him staying.

What I will remember is the inability to run a 2-minute offense.

I agree. He might be in when he retires, but right now, I don't think he's done enough at all.

He has really done poorly in some big games. He tends to get really inaccurate.

Best QB the Eagles have ever had? Hardly. Why not check out Norm Van Brocklin (who got the Iggles an NFL Championship in an otherwise all-Packer era) and Ron Jaworski who was singlehandedly the biggest thorn in the Cowboys' side for most if not all of a decade?

So I guess any QB whose team won the NFL Championship should be considered their best ever? Let me get out my Roladex, Trent Dilfer and Brad Johnson need to know they aren't goats anymore.

Why is it whenever a youngster sees an old name he's not familiar with, he brings up a non sequitur?

Van Brocklin won TWO NFL Championships on the basis of his arm. Dilfer won ONE on the basis of the running game and an incredible defense. Van Brocklin also won THREE league passing titles at a time when he was playing only HALF of the time because he was sharing snaps with Bob Waterfield, ANOTHER HOFer. In addition, Van Brocklin has the biggest passing game on record: 554 big ones. Neither Dilfer nor McNabb can say ANY of that.

That's why Van Brocklin was inducted in 1971, which was judged the best HOF class ever by NFL Films' Steve Sabol.

Oh, I'm familiar with Brocklin.... you are aware he played out his final years with the Eagles right? How does three years at the end of his career make him the best QB the Eagles have had. Are you also aware that Brocklin threw for more INTs than he did Touchdowns, his career QB rating is pathetic. No doubt he was a great QB, but the best Eagle ever... let alone one of the best QBs ever? You are once again, a Maroon.

I never claimed that Van Brocklin was the best in Eagles history. I just said that he had more claim to it than McNabb. Van Brocklin would have a better argument for being the best QB in Rams history, though most would place him #2 to Waterfield. The best in Eagles history would likely be either Jaworski or Jurgenson.

I'm not a McNabb fan, but that comment is just silly.
