God is married to his Church, according to St. Paul.

Call me crazy but i dont believe life begins at conception. one of the definitions (of i think 7) of a living organism is the ability to retain homeostasis which is the ability to regulate ones internal environment...thats what my biology book says at least. I dont see how a collection of cells at conception have an internal environment let alone regulate it

Does a corporation's life begin at conception or when they are born? If a corporation aborts it's own fetus, should they be charged with murder?

Well, the assumption that some states would impose capital punishment for an abortion, or even call it murder, is assinine, but if that's the best argument you got, go with it.

There were laws against abortion which existed prior to Roe. Not even the most conservative states treated it as "murder." Jail sentences for a few years was the standard penalty -- for the abortionist.

My friend recently experienced a spontaneos abortion. Can she sue God or the catholic church as the "real" representitives of god on earth?
No, but she should have her genetics checked out, as 50% of spontaneous abortions are due to genetic errors. Seriously, if she keeps aborting, she might want to see a specialist.

Majority of Americans view abortion as immoral

Poll finds 56% of all Americans and 58% of those 18-29 years old say abortion 'morally wrong'
NEW HAVEN, Conn., Jan. 21 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- On the eve of the 37th anniversary of the Supreme Court's decision in Roe v. Wade, which legalized abortion throughout the United States, a new survey shows a strong majority of Americans believe abortion to be "morally wrong."
"Millennials" (those 18-29) consider abortion to be "morally wrong" even more (58%) than Baby Boomers (those 45-64) (51%). Generation X (those 30-44) are similar to Millennials (60% see abortion as "morally wrong"). More than 6 in 10 of the Greatest Generation (those 65+) feel the same.

I say that all women and men who participate in deciding to have an abortion be charged with murder and executed. That should thin the Republican roles...........

All single-celled life, including a zygote, is internally self-sufficent. You are overlooking that scientific fact when you say "life" shares seven characteristics. All complex life forms share various forms of life, but even Sky's link says that a single-celled life is self-sufficient.

At conception, the zygote possesses the capacity for homeostasis; however, like other single-celled life, this process for regulating its internal environment simply functions by expelling waste through its membrane. As the cell divides, and the life becomes more complex, the process becomes more complex. Thus, by the second day, the zygote begins forming the placenta, which functions to provide nourishment as well as to absorb and protect the mother from waste.

I think even as more Americans adopt a pro-life outlook, that outlook is being formed by having had some experience with abortion.

I know many women who have had an abortion, and most of them regret their decision. Those who will talk about it identify feeling burdened, troubled, or frightened by an unexpected pregnancy, and embracing abortion because it was being endorsed as a solution and a right, without moral consequences. Because they were challenged, they acted on what they were being told.

As you get older, however, you begin to see the challenges and adversity in life as the moments when your character is tested and formed.

Some of the best, most generous, and caring people I know have personal experience with an abortion. It seems to me that they are called to this caring for life due to their personal experience of believing that they missed a challenge in their lives.

You have to be very careful when establishing criteria for what constitutes a life protected under the law. There are many illnesses and injuries that can make modes of homeostasis impossible. If you use that definition, then those people would forfeit their right to life.

Fact: the pro-life movement is full of women who have had abortions.

As for who I have spoken to about their abortion or near abortion experience, you might be surprised. For example, I have spoken to the plaintiffs in both the Roe v. Wade andDoe v. Bolton[/i] cases, both of whom are rabidly pro life now.

Not that he's a woman, but I've also spoken to Dr. Bernard Nathanson, who was once the leading abortionist in the country.

Science has given much credibility to the "life at conception" belief. Granted, seeing an ultrasound of a fully formed baby at 13 weeks is not conception, but it most certainly makes one realize that it doesn't take a full pregnancy before the baby is fully a baby.
