that kid's a nice player, saw him play a few times. Plays in a real pass happy offense.

I meant to ask if you had seen him play. He'll be coming into a pass happy offense too.

Plant linebacker Mike Mirabella, one of the bay area's top defensive players, has committed to play at Holy Cross.

Mirabella, who anchored the defense for the back-to-back state champ Panthers, is the second local player in as many days to commit to the school.

Andre Mondor, who anchored the Plant offensive line during two state championship seasons, has committed to Liberty, Panthers coach Robert Weiner said.

The 6-foot-5, 330-pounder also considered Albany.

A three-year starter for the Panthers, Mondor won the Jimbo Kynes Award, given to the county's top lineman, last week.

Alonso quarterback C.J. Bennett's recruiting process has faced more obstacles than most, but this year's Guy Toph Award winner and one of Hillsborough County's most prolific passers has found a college home.

While on his official visit to South Alabama Friday, Bennett gave his oral commitment to the school.

"It just felt right," Bennett said by text message.

Bennett, who owns more than 6,000 passing yards and 60 touchdowns in his high school career, also said having five years of eligibility while South Alabama, which is located in Mobile, makes the transition to Division I was important.
