I played against a team for the last 4 years that has red endzones and red sidelines. It was installed in 2001 and hasn't faded a bit.AppMan wrote:Having been in the coatings industry most of my life and understanding red (no matter what substrate it is encased or incapsulated in) is one of the two most prone to fade pigments in the color spectrum (yellow being the other), I can't wait for 6-7 years to pass before seeing EWU's PINK turf.

See, it's working already and they haven't even put it in. Recruits should be banging down doors.Col Hogan wrote:Pardon The Interruption is discussing the red field...

Love Mr. Chaves' enthusiasm, but he needs to work on researching his material a bit more .

I like it. If you aren't playing on real grass, why does it have to be green?

Last night I ran into a couple people from various positions within the University who I know from interning with the Marketing and Communications Dept. and got some more good news. We've reached out to Rodney Stuckey and laid out our plans for Reese Court and Roos Field (very likely the new name), and he's onboard. We've also had another $100,000 in donations for the turf since Roos' contribution.
Big things are happening at EWU.

I guess EWU will change their nickname to "Devils" and on game day say "Welcome to Hell".

Good to hear that the donations and some upgrades are coming to EWU fellas.
Cheney is a beautiful spot for football and a few upgrades to get the ball rolling out there is really nice to see. If the administration is smart enough to not hinder the tailgating there than it could turn into a real fun atmosphere on a game day.

Even though Alcohol consumption is prohibited at Woodward Field and its parking lots (state law - hence all the signage), law enforcement recognizes it is virtually unenforcable with that many people desiring to do so. If you're drinking from a red solo cup you'll be fine. The cops do a pretty good job of focusing more on those with a tendency to cause trouble - college kids and people driving vehicles with Montana plates.Ursus A. Re: Red turf at EWU?
That is cool & all but they need to keep their cool and not get all "compliance" on it because it is one of the things that makes the overall experience of a game day so much fun. I think WA & MT have similar open containger laws and on a Griz gameday it absolutely no problem to have your fun in the designated areas and I remember having some issues while at Woodward in the past. When the game was at Joe Albi there was absolutely no problem with the tailgating out in the lots.kalm wrote:Even though Alcohol consumption is prohibited at Woodward Field and its parking lots (state law - hence all the signage), law enforcement recognizes it is virtually unenforcable with that many people desiring to do so. We could use our old name the "Savages" and name the field "Custer's Last Stand". Also, we do have a beer garden at Woodward field...SpeedkingATL wrote:I guess EWU will change their nickname to "Devils" and on game day say "Welcome to Hell".

Oh, I also forget to mention that we're hitting up some big name sponsors for this too... Red Bull for one. Chaves is definitely intent on putting EWU on the map.

Jones is going to be ridiculous next year with another 5 games on turf instead of torn up grass. Baldwin better up his carries to around 20+ per game.eagle1 wrote:This guy likes the new turf.
