Distasteful as it WILL be, more free speech is good for the country, as it will inspire more discussion of issues, some of which might actually be helpful.
Just keep it out of the schools below college level.

No, there is a probably place for sex ed in high school, but the educational system changes I might propose would go farther than sex ed.dbackjon wrote:native wrote:Let all the stoopid sonsabitches who want to waste their money on a Super Bowl commercials do so.

Thanks for the tip of the hat on free speech, Jon. Although some free speech pisses me off, the alternatives to free speech are worse.

Teaching isn't the issue - it is the parent's expectations (or lack there of) that are the issue.TheDancinMonarch wrote:As soon as they can successfully teach the three R's then maybe they can move on to more complex subjects.dbackjon wrote:Are you opposed to any type of sex ed in high school?

Do parents have expectation about their kids learning reading riting, and rithmatic? People who can read, write and "cipher" can be taught more complex subjects.dbackjon wrote:Teaching isn't the issue - it is the parent's expectations (or lack there of) that are the issue.TheDancinMonarch wrote:

Sex ed should be taught by the parents, same as religion. Just as I'm not ready yet to discuss viagra commercials with my young kids, I feel the same way about Christianity and gay relationships. I just wish the network would simply decide to air appropriate commercials focused on non offensive issues like the swilling of beer.

Forced-birth Ad by Hate Group - OK
Ad promoting love - BAD
The Super Bowl ad debate increased Friday as CBS officially rejected an ad for a gay men’s dating Web site, according to a report on Mashable.com.
The rejection of the ad is likely to add flames to the fire over the acceptance of an ad from anti-gay group Focus on the Family.

I watched the commercial on deadspin yesterday. Didn't see anything wrong with it, nor did I think it was a good commercial. It didn't appear to really be an ad promoting love...but, I thought it was funny, especially with the Packers and Vikings jersey.
I guess what I don't understand about either "controversy" (Tebow ad, gay ad) is who watches the commercials? I could care less about the commercials, I want to watch the Saints defense annihilate Peyton!

Our country is so uptight and hypocritcal about sexual relationships it is unbelieveable. Europeans think we are insane. We have no qualms with showing graphic violence to our children on TV every night and yet ban an ad invites people to a website. We raise our children on violence. No one is forcing anyone to do anything. Where are all the conservatives pounding their chests over freedom and liberty? Oh, yes, over on the FAUX Channel, that bastion of 'family values'..until you see the shows in their lineup.

I would rather my son watch a terrorist getting punched, water boarded and killed than a couple of dudes sucking each other off.
