Former McNeese QB new OC at TXST

Post by slycat »

Slade Nagle is the new OC. He replaces Travis Bush who left for UTSA.

Texas State doesn’t need to look for a new co-offensive coordinator or quarterbacks coach any longer — the Bobcats got the man they wanted.

After conducting a brief, but thorough search, Texas State signed former Northwestern State offensive coordinator Slade Nagle to assume those duties. Nagle will share play-calling duties with Ben Norton and coach the Bobcats’ young crop of quarterbacks.

When he called the shots on offense for the Demons, NSU saw its points per game rise from 21.6 in 2007 to 26.7 the following year.

The 30-year-old Nagle doesn’t just have coaching experience in the Southland Conference, he played for McNeese State from 1999-01 after transferring from Clemson. Nagle passed for 4,596 yards and 35 touchdowns in his career with the Cowboys.

Nagle was an administrative intern with LSU in 2009.

I was kinda thinking the same thing. I was never impressed with our QB play/development while he was at NSU.

The good thing about Coach Wright is he's not afraid to admit when he made a mistake with his coaching staff. If this Nagle character doesn't produce, he will get the boot lickity split. We'll see how it goes.

I was just a little surprised there was not a better choice available. Who knows, maybe he will work out for you. We are a little tainted after watching him play here. I remember a game against SFA where he threw three straight pick 6s because he was staring down the receiver. We also had Texas A&M on the mat and he did the same thing that probably cost us the game. BUT, that was as a player so who knows.
