EWU lost to Youngstown State in the Semi's in 97. But then again, I wouldn't expect AZ or anybody from the East Coast to know/check their facts.

I think you are confusing the familiarity of this board and how we all talk trash to each other with actually coming to Missoula. I remember nothing but favorable posts from all the Appalachian State fans who made the trip to Missoula.Sapper wrote:I would love to see Montana move to the FBS so they could get the crap kicked out of them for 5 or 10 years and teach there fans some humility. In my 30 years in Pocatello I have met few Montana fans that I can stand. Last year it is a good thing that ISU fans are so good natured. After the game UM fans were way to out of control and rude is this what happens when they drink I don’t know? If you are in school colors with face paint and all don’t be an ass. If it had been other people not football fans I think that they would have literally got the crap kicked out of them for being a$$ wholes in Pocatello.

Sapper, my guess is that anyone who are in school colors with face paint has a pretty good chance to be a student. Yes, students of all schools do stupid things and act inappropriately when they drink. I highly doubt any adult Montana fans were acting like that...put it in perspectiveSapper wrote:In my 30 years in Pocatello I have met few Montana fans that I can stand. He IS, Putter. Think about this scenario from HIS perspective. Bungles fans just had the biggest victory in their program's past 29 years RIPPED from their grasp in the closing seconds (and conversely, Griz fans had just watched their team dodge the biggest bullet in the past 17 years)....you think they (Bungles fans) weren't seein' RED about the time the stadium started emptying?putter wrote:Sapper, my guess is that anyone who are in school colors with face paint has a pretty good chance to be a student. Nice generalization. You need to get out more, son. Go to Missoula this year for the game and wear your school gear. You'll get treated like a king.Sapper wrote:Actually they were a bunch of 35+ fat dudes and chicks that started an altercation in more than one bar.putter wrote:

Nice perspective. Funny that you never hear the other side on theses things. We have our reputation and it is well earned so if you want to live in your own world then who gives a fuck?Sapper wrote:In my 30 years in Pocatello I have met few Montana fans that I can stand. I would find it easier to believe that there were some ISU fans that were real dicks after losing a heartbreaker to us...again. In fact that is the way I heard it from a couple of fella's that stopped at one of your watering holes.
You guys in Pokingfellas don't like winners so your disdain for Montana makes perfect sense. No need to explain further.

This is why it's important to meet up with fans of the other team. When you hang out with the cool fans from the board, you won't have issues.
I thought UNH fans were super shitty when we went out there. Then I went out of my way to hang out with the fans from the board when they came here the last few years and we had a great time. I even call some of them on the phone.
I would guess that people have bad experiences with Griz fans, but that's because they don't make sure they meet the good ones. I would love to go to a Griz-Panther game in Missoula even though I've heard horror stories from the 2001 semifinal.

The bar I was sitting in was full of fans from ISU, myself a 2LT and a couple of friends all of whom are cops and or ARMY. The bar is one of the coolest places in town and is know for its no fighting rule. The UM fans found out that there were a couple of ISU players there and started calling them on. This is not cool this is why the GRIZZ have a bad name.

Re: What if the Grizzlies DIDN'T Make The Playoffs?
The Griz don't have a bad name and that is where you are dead fucking wrong. You met a couple of troublemakers? Hell why do they need cops in Pocatello if there are such a bunch of fucking angels living there? EVERY fanbase has the outliers, but if you take a look around instead of just using your single little incident report then you'll see that this is not the culture of Griz Football & Griz fans in general.Sapper wrote:The bar I was sitting in was full of fans from ISU, myself a 2LT and a couple of friends all of whom are cops and or ARMY. As I said though, think what you want I guess. Your fact gathering and judgment seem to leave a little bit to be desired however.

Right --- that is why there are pics on this site with Montana fans buying THE SFA FOOTBALL TEAM DRINKS 2 days before a playoff game -- boy what a bunch of dickheads..

Of course, compared to the proper Mormon community it is, they probably thought that Montana fans were being jerks - drinking alcohol and all..( Hows that for generalization....??)

Re: What if the Grizzlies DIDN'T Make The Playoffs?
You finally hit on the real issue, that, and we actually go to the games so they don't have it to themselves like the rest of the year. Total disdain and dirty looks by the passerbys that we had a tailgate before and after the game. We were bothering no one. Later, we were in a bar/restaurant with a lot of Griz fans and player parents, spending their money in Pocatello, and causing no problems for anyone. There was certainly no smack going on as it was not a proud performance by the Griz. What as*hol#s! Who would want fans like that in town? When you are a consistent loser, the worst people in the world are the consistent winners.putter wrote:putter wrote:

Wrong, we're much better than USC or Notre Dame . When was the last time either of those programs had a run comparable to Montana's current one ?BigSkyBears wrote:I would love it. I respect the program, but not many of the fans. They swear they're USC or Notre Dame.
Seriously, I'm thinking of coming to Greeley next season (it's a 5 hour drive for me) so my son can witness his first Griz game. If you go to that game, I can guarantee that the gracious Griz fans will far outnumber the assholes (and every team has its assholes). Don't judge the entire fanbase by the impression you get from a few online personalities.
