Understandable; facts are hard to stomach when your program wins three BSC games in four years. Hating the messenger helps sooth the pain.BigSkyBears wrote:Asshole Grizzly fans: Kemajic, Ursas, mlbowl, putter,Ronbo.

I wouldn't have to save for half a year to make the trip to Missoula. I would look forward to playoff games back at "The Railyard" ( love that term) again, ala 2005.

Re: What if the Grizzlies DIDN'T Make The Playoffs?
One advantage Montana has is that there are only two D-1 teams in the state and they both play at the FCS level. ISU is at a disadvantage because the top tier high school recruits from in-state are going to get looked at by BSU and Idaho first and having Weber nearby doesn't help much either. Even Montana lost it's best in-state recruit (Matt Miller from Helena) to BSU this year. But, a Montana kid who wants to stay in-state is going to target either UM or MSU and I'd like to say that they all choose UM, but that's simply not true, the Cats do nab a few good ones every year.hotshot wrote: My point is just that Eastern Idaho does have some great athletes. It just seams that ISUs opinion of our local kids is that they are just not good enough. They would rather go out of state I guess.
CMR is one of the better programs in Montana...they won the AA state championship last season and have won several others over the past couple of decades.

I wasn't and ass to UNC either. I guess we Griz fans all get lumped together. Not that I need to defend myself, but I said that the difference between UNC and UM may be culture more than anything..that is not smack..but we can sure turn it to be. My biggest beef is not with UNC solely but with the conference as a whole. I look at the attendance at some of these schools when Montana comes to town, they double or sometime even more the attendance. If they can do that for the UM game then they should do that for the entire season. Not saying its the schools fault but fans need to support their schools - the Montana schools do and we fans are proud of it.BigSkyBears wrote:It's not so much an ass to me, but rather to my university. Re: What if the Grizzlies DIDN'T Make The Playoffs?
Yeah, the Butte thing is definitely a winner ! I remember the big debate used to be which town was the Coyotes first. Kind of a moot point now that Chester consolidated with J-I and became the Hawks. There's still a coyote statue on top of the high school though (they cemented that sucker on REAL good ). I graduated a couple of years ahead of Brent, played football with him.putter wrote:..and grew up in Butte...I win!!!! If the Grizzlies didn't make the playoffs. It would mean that the rest of the Big Sky has caught them which would be a good thing for the conference overall. However I don't see that with 20 playoff spots. I can see them losing some conference games this year to teams like EWU and NAU.

I think EWU, MSU, & NAU are on par with UM this year. I think the two most likely losses are probable in 2010 are the Cal Poly & EWU games because they will be catching the new staff early and on the road to boot.bpcats wrote:If the Grizzlies didn't make the playoffs. That would be pure conjecture at this point as the scientific community doesn't expect anyone other than Montana to win the conference.BlackFalkin wrote:

I remember walking through the parking lot at Woodward during a MSU game a few years back with a buddy who happened to have a blue jacket on and who was verbally smacked by a group of EWU college students. Funny thing since he graduated from Eastern and volunteers for the athletic department...
Like others have mentioned, I have been to Reds and the Mo Club with EWU apparel on the night before a game and the night after a game. Following a Montana win and a loss. And I get nothing but respect and the occassional free round.
Drunk assholes and hot chicks are at every school. They are both a minority.

Add the historical community. Eleven consecutive is quite a lot of history. No one has documented a reason to support why it would change. Just the same wishful thinking that appears every year.Mountaineer wrote:That would be pure conjecture at this point as the scientific community doesn't expect anyone other than Montana to win the conference.BlackFalkin wrote:

Actually, if your definition of a hot chick includes dreads, hemp, hairy armpits and the scent of patchouli, then Missoula has an abundance of them.

Re: What if the Grizzlies DIDN'T Make The Playoffs?
EWU is and has been the second best performing FB program in the BSC, but there is a lot of distance between #1 and #2. It requires you to pick at anecdotes. Over the last 10 years:BlackFalkin wrote:kemajic wrote: Add the historical community. Eleven consecutive is quite a lot of history. No one has documented a reason to support why it would change. Performance: Montana / EWU
Overall WL: 119-23 / 67-49
BSC WL: 58-8 / 46-30
Playoffs WL: 19-9 / 2-4
BSC Champs: 10 / 2
Semis: 6 / 0
Head to Head: 8-2 / 2-8
EWU is far less effective at attendance, dwelling in the bottom third of the the BSC, averaging less than a third of Montana. I guess the red turf is the equalizer.

Jesus. It's no WONDER the UNC fans think you're an asshole. Now you're gonna go and have the EWU fans thinkin' the same thing!
