Re: Post your basketball arena
Stony Brook University Arena currently sits 4100 or so, though we've been playing in the 2000 capacity Pritchard Gym until renovations are done/started. Construction was last reported to start in 2010, so fingers crossed.

Some photos of the arena design and new locker room facilities. Pretty sure the new arena can sit 6K+, but can't find an exact number. The locker room and basketball facilities are, to my understanding, pretty much done (never seen em so can't say for sure). The student athlete academic center is definitely completed. Arena's next.

Richmond plays in the Robins Center. Capacity is 9071, although we've been averaging about 1/2 that the last few years. It was built in the 70's but has held up well and is a great facility.
RIght next door, we are building this

I've been meaning to ask this since i watched your game this past weekend. Do you play hockey there as well? It just looks like it can have hockey set up in it.ur2K wrote:Richmond plays in the Robins Center. Capacity is 9071, although we've been averaging about 1/2 that the last few years. Re: Post your basketball arena
We don't have a hockey team (we do have a club team but they play at a local rink), so no hockey at the RC.

Varsity Gym: Where ASU played before the opening season in the HCC (2000), my freshman year of 1999-2000 when we last made the NCAA tourney
It doesn't look like it in that picture, but Varsity Gym was said to seat 8,000, though I believe its true capacity was around 6,500. It has been refurbished and is the practice center for the basketball teams. The remaining seats have been removed, and new floors were installed. It should help in recruiting going forward. The Holmes Center seats around 8,500.

Re: Post your basketball arena
I still want to see them. People give football fields shit all the time because some dont have endzone seating. Not having it in basketball is worse. And temporary seating isn't much better.

We've just been spoiled by the quality of the MVC facilities. There isn't another non-BCS conference that even comes close.clenz wrote:I still want to see them. What would you say is the worst MVC facility? Drake?
The Roundhouse is a special place. I actually enjoy both E'ville and InSU.

I still can't believe Montana actually did a remodel of the fieldhouse and put in LESS seating.......

Re: Post your basketball arena
One thing I don't like is seeing volleyball lines on a basketball court. Am I being too much of a hardass?

Re: Post your basketball arena
It is low, it can kind of get in the way on a full court shot, I remember a shot or two hitting our old scoreboard.
Re: VCU Siegel Center
These photos are extremely deceiving. What's missing are the prostitutes and drug dealers on every corner, and the hypodermic needles that have been discarded on the sidewalks. Additionally, the SPEW is the only arena I've encountered that has plastic covers on every seat - in an effort to prevent the grease from unwashed hair from staining the upholstery. VCU fans are just awful, inbred, and bohemian people; an issue that evolution will hopefully correct in the next few generations.EPJr wrote:

Deja Vu.... didn't you ask this same question last year? I swear someone asked about Richmond using their arena as a hockey rink... but then again, I'm off my game this morning so I could be wrong.clenz wrote: I've been meaning to ask this since i watched your game this past weekend. Tracks don't bother me, but soccer and field hockey lines on the FB field do (which we have in addition to the track). Volleyball lines could be taped down pretty easily. The only things that really need to be painted down are the corners and "Ts" for the ten-foot line.

2 levels of bleachers and seating was available and some on the Broome-Kirk end as well. Capacity may have been 6500 but I've seen 8k in Varsity. The old floor was great and it was fun to sneak in there on Sunday's for a pickup game.
