Tack on a 3-Star CB Transfer from Syracuse Grant Mayes! For the short 5 weeks our coach has been out recruiting, our recruiting class is stacked!

Re: Missouri Valley Football Conference 2010
I think NDSU will be the sleeper in 2010. They've had their welcome-to-the-MVC pimp-slapping and now know what it's going to take to contend. They're also loaded on the o-line.clenz wrote:This conference is going to be a **** this year. Teams were very senior heavy last year, and may be inexeperienced this year.
SIU, UNI, SDSU, and probably YSU will fight for the top 4 with NDSU and Illinois State fighting for the 5-7 spots with ISUB and WIU bringing up the rear....like normal.

Agreed they could be good...but I don't trust their QB play and without Paschall I want to see what they can bring on the groundhoundawg wrote:I think NDSU will be the sleeper in 2010. NDSU has no QBs, and lost their stud RB. I don't care if they have a bunch of talent up front. If they get QB play like they have the last few years, they will be mid pack at best again.

The QB situation is improving, we actually have three guys that could start. Mohler, who started the last four games, was a major improvement over Mertens. We still have plenty of good backs, offensively we actually look pretty good.DJH wrote:NDSU has no QBs, and lost their stud RB. I don't care if they have a bunch of talent up front. Defensively though we have some things to work through, especially in the secondary. We also have a new DC.

Impossible to say right now, but Lennon was real happy with the five o-linemen he signed. Apparently all were also wrestlers or track men.

Re: Missouri Valley Football Conference 2010
YSU signed 6. Our OL was really bad last year. For the first time in decades, YSU was a passing team and not a running team.houndawg wrote:guinzone wrote:BUMP:

One of the six we signed was a 3-Star kid with offers to Purdue, Indiana, Kansas, Michigan State, and Purdue. Worth noting our head coach is the former OL/Run Game Coordinator at Illinois and South Carolina.
For YSU to succeed this year, our very young offense will need to be able to run the ball. Our defense will be absolutely stacked. We return 11 of 12 starters and just got a bigtime CB/S transfer from Syracuse.
Relying on a Freshmen QB, Three Freshmen RB, and at least 2-3 Freshmen OL, it may be a long year on O.
Re: Missouri Valley Football Conference 2010
Just the opposite for NDSU. We had 45 freshman last year. This year the roster looks like this:clenz wrote:This conference is going to be a **** this year. Teams were very senior heavy last year, and may be inexeperienced this year.

22 freshman
45 sophs
14 juniors
21 seniors
You guys saw a lot of those freshman last year. The D line is going to be one of the best in the league. They already are.

UNI lost everyone? We lost a lot but return our best skill players, and our entire secondary minus one, and a number of people up front that saw PT.lakesbison wrote:UNI- lost everyone

Oh, and our back up QB last year is better than Grace and many think he should have been playing last year.

One, if we're a one year wonder how come they have beat the godly NDSU three times in a row. And two, I'd be stoked about getting a guy with questionable grades too!
Please don't tell Obama what comes after a Trillion.
Re: Missouri Valley Football Conference 2010
UNI was not a great team last year and they will be worse next season. They were competitive in the conference but that isnt saying much. Returning your best skilled players may be the problem. Supposedly the Panthers were down the year they got beat by an unknown D2 team, but they have never really come back. They didnt even get through a weak MVFC as a contender. NDSU put up over 500 yds on UNI last year. ISU put the dagger in the pipe dream. My impressions of SIU arent much better. Over-blown hype but they did fill a bracket spot, again.clenz wrote:UNI lost everyone? I think ISU and NDSU are the teams to watch this year. The only great team the MVFC has had is YSU and as pointed out they are a distant memory. The future is NDSU. They have the fan base, a program that has shown over the past decades it is committed to football and they have the facilities. The national championship game in Chatty rarely draws more than an NDSU football game.
As for SDSU they have had a nice run on NDSU. I see it going to their heads and thats a good sign.

.......I guess NDSU has changed their plans about immediate domination of FCS.....instead you're going to play possum by finishing at the bottom of the weak MVC..............

Hmmm, YSU isn't coming back? I guess NDSU will NEVER be there then, considering you guys are 0-2 against the Penguins since joining the MVFC. Those 2 losses were against the two worst YSU squads we have seen in Youngstown in a decade.lakesbison wrote:UNI- lost everyone

You obviously don't know what you are talking about, because SDSU is loaded. SIU has been solid for the past 7 years, UNI did not lose everyone. NDSU, my friend, is going nowhere in this league until they "man up" a bit and learn what MVFC football is all about.

keep hating, you are damn lucky that ndsu lost a bunch of close games the last 2 years, enjoy it, embrace it, chum it up. Cuz thats it, it ends this year, 2 great classes, the bad mojo will be turning around, and yes we will continue to be confident, bring it on, SIU will go down now that Lennon is bringing in his own recruits, SDSU were 1-3 vs good teams last year and have a brutal schedule. UNI lost a ton of people (is that better than everyone??) and NDSU fans will bring 3000+ to their stadium again. Get Ready girls.
