NASCAR ditching the wing

Post by OSBF »

NASCAR doing away with the wing on the COT and going back to a traditional spoiler. Says it will allow them to raise HP at plate tracks because the cars drive better, have better manners in tight traffic.

Yeah, NASCAR realizes they made a lot of bonehead moves the last few years.

They're scaling back the COT nonsense, starting with going back to spoilers. They're encouraging bump drafting instead of discouraging it. They've increased the restrictor plate opening. They're starting all the races at standard times this year, with TV coverage beginning at 1pm, 3pm, or 7pm for east coast, west coast, and night races. Plus, they brought in a hot chick from Indy. :thumb:

Now if they would just get rid of all tracks west of the Mississippi, reopen North Wilkesboro and Rockingham, give the second race back to all the tracks that were reduced to one, and clone Dale Earnhardt from stored DNA, they'll have pretty much finished my to-do list if I were ever NASCAR President.

Yes, it is ECB, I'll admit it.

OK, here's what I'll do, as fantasy NASCAR President. After the Daytona 500, I'll leave a week of travel, and March will become West Coast month for NASCAR. One race at Phoenix, one at Vegas, one at Fontana, one at Sonoma. Then a week off, then hit all the crummy cookie cutter tracks in the middle of the country (Texas, Kansas, Chicagoland, etc) in April, and then leave May and after for the real NASCAR tracks. Sound good?

Gotta end the season in Phoenix, too...where else you gonna race in November besides Florida?

NO! One race for you. That's it.

For those who don't like cold, grow a pair. I remember sitting and freezing with my dad in February watching Cale Yarborough win a race at Richmond in late 70s/early 80s. Suck it up.

How about we stop driving cars that get about 5mpg for sport?

Oh wait, then what would Rednecks do during that time? Ok Ok, we extended hunting season. There, problem solved.

jesus christ hen, Dale is DEAD, and the sport is better off without him

Sometimes I think I could pick up dog turds in my backyard, spray paint them black with a white #3 on them, and sell them on e-bay to toothless crackers for 20 bucks each.

I know someone that would offer you $17.50 for one of them turds. :twocents: :thumb: 50/50 commission.

You can be my first authorized retailer of the special limited edition Dale Earnhardt commerative dog turd.

I do however require a minimum order, pre paid of course, of 100 units.

Are these like Pug size poops or St. Bernard size poops? Bigger the poop, the more it costs.

First statement is true and second statement is false (although this could be corrected).

I agree the fandom of #3 can be overbearing, but I had the opportunity to meet the man several times, including riding with him around Dover Downs when I was 9 years old, so I won't trivialize my fandom for him. I've been a fan since before he won his first championship. Bandwagon doesn't apply.

guys like him have a very limited apeal, typically to traditional south of the mason dixon nascar fans

guys like jeff gordon and jimmy johnson are more important to the advancement of the sport because of their broader appeal to a more national audience

the sport just outgrew drivers like earnhardt, the allisons, petty, fireball roberts, etc etc etc

Not taking the bait there. Attendance figures since 2001 when Sr. died will bear out my side.

1. Get rid of the so-called playoffs, (the chase).

2. Get rid of all the cookie cutter tracks.

3. Let them fight if they want too.

4. Quite fining someone for swearing.

5. Add two dirt tracks to the schedule. Ever been to "The Dream"?

6. Make the teams race actual stock cars that teams, and the public, buy at a dealer.

That should do for the first week.
