That is unless your school has managed a series of MVFC titles and an early playoff bow-out each and every year they have made it. Thats not withstanding the obscene arrogance of their fans that think they have one of the best football teams in the country. What SIU has is the best of the weakest. What, 5 or 6 MVFC titles in the 2000s and 1 national championship in 1983!! Thats mind boggling. Lennon will be perfect to enhance that record of futility. Is the conference that bad or is SIU just a big choker in the playoffs? I think the Pioneer League has done better. I think SIU is a paper tiger.
The MVFC is ripe for the picking. NDSU is about ready to dominate. I suggest some of you take a realistic and less provincial view with your ideas including the success of the MVFC and the upcoming changes in the structure of D1 football.
NDSU is the #1 program in the MVFC. It has more upside than most in the MVFC. SDSU thinks the same way. They are planning on a 22,0000 seat stadium and are upwardly mobile like NDSU. Most of the rest are more like D2. Its a good place to rent but I dont think I would build a house in this neighborhood. Its good to keep the powder dry and wait for a more prestigious address to become available in the future. In the mean time get ready, its a BIZON UPRISIN.

NDSU is already over their heads in the MVC and should consider going back to D2 ball which is a better fit for such an out-of-the-way location.JBB wrote: NDSU is just starting out in the FCS.
As evidenced by their bottom-tier standing in the MVC
.....unless your school has managed a series of MVFC titles.......
...why, yes, my school has, thank you. Yours will need a little more seasoning at this level. Be patient and remember that before you can win you have to have the horses to compete

Not having any experience with playoffs, you don't yet understand how tough they are.
The MVFC is ripe for the picking. NDSU is about ready to dominate.
Even a blind hog finds an acorn once in a while, but you're going to need better athletes than you've showed us for the past two seasons if you want to be somebody in the MVC. Which points to your bigger problem: nobody with any talent wants to live in North Dakota. People develop their talent so they don't have to play in backwaters like Fargo.
NDSU is the #1 program in the MVFC. It has more upside than most in the MVFC.

Re: Missouri Valley Football Conference 2010
My point is this: the MVFC isnt exactly a hotbed of championship football.
The overall playoff record is .528 (47-42). SUI has a record of futility with an over all won/loss in the playoffs of .400 (4-6). The rest of the conference isnt much better except YSU. At least when they got to the playoffs they won. Record is .750 (9-3). That deserves respect. The others have been bracket fillers lead by UNI and SIU.
Because the MVFC doesnt hold up in the playoffs its fair to conclude that the conference is ripe for the plucking. There is room in this conference at the top, a lot of room and NDSU is poised to take it.

Re: Missouri Valley Football Conference 2010
You were poised to take it the past two seasons, according to many Bison fans. What you refer to as not holding up in the playoffs forgets that the MVC had a team in the semis two of the past three years and that not winning the NC says nothing about NDSU other than that they watch the playoffs on TV with Indiana State.JBB wrote:My point is this: the MVFC isnt exactly a hotbed of championship football.

What you refer to as futility, is tougher competition. Like I said, if you ever reach the playoffs you'll see. Losing by 3 to Joe Flacco in the semis while having two TDs called back for lineman down field isn't futility; it's frustrating, but not futile. UD is a whole different level than slapping the Bison around. Your only chance is if the rest of the league takes a year off, otherwise you'll remain a bottom-to-lower-mid-tier team for the forseeable future. Good luck, maybe the GWC will take you back after a few more of your feeble efforts in the weak MVC.

2005- Championship game
2007- quarters
2008- semis
NDSU:

I'd say UNI has been doing OK as of late.

Re: Missouri Valley Football Conference 2010
Going into the 2008 season YSU fans were very interested in seeing how NDSU could hold up against the league. Well just four weeks into the season, #2 NDSU traveled to the Ice Castle and lost 32-24 to a 4-8 YSU squad, one of the worst in two decades in Youngstown. #2 at the time and you lost to one of the worst YSU teams in my lifetime.
God only knows how bad you will lose to us when we become good again.

Yeah that would be the case here. He did post over at Bisonville, but left for good after the owner of the site pretty much laid down the law to a few posters. They didn't like the new rules, so they created their own board(Bisonsports).clenz wrote:Does your fanbase claim this gu? There are plenty of people that uni doesn't claimFargoBison wrote:

Not necessarily true. Not all of us have fancy facepalm pictures to post or feel the need to respond to outlandish, over the top posts by people such as JBB.DJH wrote:Fargobison is the only voice of reason and humility of the whole bison nation.
Every fanbase has its own JBB's and Lakes' who seem to post things just to stir the pot. I don't believe for a minute they actually truly believe what they type.

They do make for good entertainment as far as I'm concerned. Beyond that, what they claim carries little weight w/ me.
Re: Missouri Valley Football Conference 2010
yeah we definitely have some interesting posters, but which school doesn't. The one thing NDSU has going for itself is that we have probably the best football following in the MVC. Also, I would guess we probably have the best facilities in the conference and unlike most of the cities in the MVC, fargo isn't a complete sh#*hole.
The last 2 seasons prove why if you don't recruit a QB for 2 or 3 seasons, and they guy that u thought was the guy doesn't pan out, you're in trouble. Obviously when you are 3-8 there are a ton of other issues, but i don't have the time.
Next year will be interesting. We definitely have a favorable schedule. it sucks we start with Ku and niu, but with niu losing a lot of seniors, it's probably best to play them right off the bat. then we close with sdsu and siu at home. who knows, but we were really young last year, and just couldn't close out games. We will be a lot better than most non NDSU posters think, but it remains to be seem how many more wins that will equal.

We do have a lot of good posters over at Bisonville, they just haven't found this place or pretty much just stick to that board. I guess I could start an elimination game thread and bring some over here
There are some crazies that give us a bad name, sadly they our probably are most prolific posters on non-NDSU boards, for some it is all a bit(lakesbison) while for others I don't really know but I hope it is.
If you ever want to get to know Bison fans better just come up to Fargo and tailgate. I guarantee you will have a good time.

If you have logical reasons, we would all love to hear them.
Re: Missouri Valley Football Conference 2010
i wouldn't be so sure, but until a divison 1 football team from nd beats you, i'll give you the advantage being at home. also, it should be noted, the offseason is long and between niu and ndsu, there could be some off the field incidents that affect each team.

Disagree. Fargo is a voice of reason but I also like to read Gil, TTBF, etc. and miss Freak. The new guys (Welcome!) seem like excellent posters as well.DJH wrote:Fargobison is the only voice of reason and humility of the whole bison nation.
JBB was successful in getting cats and dogs (and penguins) to play together so we might be "headed for a disaster of biblical proportions."

And given the recent history of both programs, I'd say that the probability of such incidents is high (or at least higher than it should be ). But at least the coaches actually take action against such things instead of sweeping it under the rug.mgbison wrote:i wouldn't be so sure, but until a divison 1 football team from nd beats you, i'll give you the advantage being at home. also, it should be noted, the offseason is long and between niu and ndsu, there could be some off the field incidents that affect each team.
But anyway, the main reason for my reply was because I wanted to participate in the dyslexia too.

yeah, i was thinking siu and niu was the first thing that came to mind.
