NEC 2010 non-conference schedules

Post by aceinthehole »

Since Travis is nice enough to post the schedules on this site, I thought I would start a thread here to update and discuss any NEC scheduling :)

http://www.championshipsubdivision.com/ ... schedules/

Confirmed
Albany – 9/2 at Maine (CAA), 9/11 at Stephen F. Austin (SLC), 10/2 at Yale (Ivy)
Bryant -
CCSU – 9/4 at New Hampshire (CAA), 9/18 at Youngstown St. (MVC)
Duquesne – 9/4 vs. Bucknell (PL), 9/11 vs. Dayton (Pioneer), 9/18 at Delaware (CAA)
Monmouth – 9/4 at Colgate (PL), 9/11 vs. Maine (CAA), 9/25 vs. Old Dominion (Indy)
Robert Morris – 9/18 vs. Liberty (Big South)
Sacred Heart – 9/25 at Dartmouth (Ivy)
Saint Francis – 9/4 at Liberty (Big South), 9/11 at Morehead State (Pioneer)
Wagner – 9/18 vs. Cornell (Ivy)

TBA
Bryant - 3 games
CCSU – 1 game
Robert Morris – 2 games (likely at Dayton)
Sacred Heart – 2 games (likely at Marist)
Saint Francis – 1 game
Wagner – 2 games

----------
2010 NEC vs Conferences:

4 vs CAA*
3 vs Ivy
2 vs PL*
2 vs Big South*
2 vs Pioneer
1 vs MVC*
1 vs Southland*
1 vs FCS Indy

* denotes AQ conference
(NEC still has 11 openings to schedule)

I remember hearing a rumor that CCSU is playing Bentley next year. I have not heard anything about it since December, so I am not sure if it is still true/or was ever true.

With no CAA teams I think Bryant might have more than 1 DII game this year. I do not really see what other teams they will add. PL? Ivy? Will they be able to get on those schedules so late? Will Marist play a return game?

I think you may see a Great West team on a NEC schedule in 2010.

That "rumor" was/is very true. Bentley was scheduled to open up at CCSU on 9/4, however the CCSU/UNH game had to be moved from 9/11 to 9/4, so now that Bentley game may have fallen through (hopefully). I do know CCSU wants a home game, but our options are very limited.

With NU and Hofstra gone, Bryant may have big trouble finding games this year. Even Stony Brook had to schedule a DII team (AIC).
----
According to a d2 messageboard the following are rumored non-conf games for NE-10 teams:
Bentley - at Carson-Newman, at CCSU
Southern Conn. - at IUP, vs. West Liberty

Awsome! Any hints?

I'm would love to have a rematch of the 1986 CCSU-Cal Poly game.

I just hope we do not do what we did in 2008 and have both SCSU and Merrimack again. Or have a game with Assumption or another second NE-10 school.

Quick comment re: "Sacred Heart – 2 games (likely at Marist)"

Not likely.

Marist's dance card is full. Marist plays a full 8 game PFL schedule plus 3 OOC games. Those OOC games appear to be Lafayette, Bucknell, and Georgetown.

Pretty good OOC schedule. Sucks for Bryant to lose that Hofstra game, but you guys should be at the point of being able to beat up on your former NE-10 rivals.

I'm psyched about the SFA game for Albany. Always nice to have a playoff team on the schedule and I'm sure SFA will come into that game with a pretty high ranking.

Have those games been officially announced? If so, that sucks for SHU :(

Marist and Sacred Heart has played each other for the last 8 years and have a 4-4 record.

Good OOC for Marist although the SH series has been a good one (as noted by Ace above). The ever-strengthening Patriot League/PFL allignment is good for both leagues which have a lot of like-minded institutions.

Georgetown was recently dropped by Richmond and ODU leaving them with 9 games. Maybe Bryant and Georgetown can set-up a game--it may be somewhat competitive if Georgtown has improved some from last year.

Marist is not playing Lafayette next year. Someone is circulating an incorrect Lafayette schedule.

Lafayett'e's OOC schedule for next year is Penn, Princeton, Columbia, Harvard and Stoney Brook.

Almost positive Marist will play Bucknell and Georgetown.

Good, so there is a chance that the Marist-SHU series continues!

Georgetown-Bryant would be a great game for both programs as well. If G-town is looking for games they should talk to SFPA and Wagner as well, as those would also be nice matchups between the NEC and PL.

Wagner, Bryant and St. Francis vs. Georgetown would be great for all involved if it could be put together.

I really like (and am actually very jealous) of the UA-Yale game at the Bowl! It's not like your past games at Wash-Grizz or the Tub, but that is the football history in New Haven. A great game for your program!

Bryant shouldn't worry about playing 1 or even 2 D-II teams this year. Now that we have the AQ, Bryant just needs to worry about winning the NEC. Bryant can reward your fans by hosting some old rivals and and kicking their ass!

Not sure if you ever go to the Ivy board but many Yale fans over there comment that they would like to see a game vs CCSU to create a bit of local excitement for FCS football.

So much for appearances!

It would also appear that Marist's geographic location makes them one of the prettiest girls at the dance. I'm sure that they have far more suitors than open slots on their dance card.

The Marist campus is in a very nice location and they now have an attractive new stadium.

Hey CCSU fans, CCSU picked up a local JC QB, Jesperson, from Hancock JC. If he were a little taller he would have a ticket to the college of his choice. The kid is a player who can beat a team with both his feet or his arm. I am looking forward to seeing how he does at CCSU.
