Terrible. Too bad we don't have enough money to fire our coach (1 year left on his contract) because his time is just about up.
Hang in there! SBU was the doormat of not only AE but most of D-1 for a long time. The Danes are having
a down year after what 2 trips to the DANCE. You guys will be back I'm sure
The problem is all the momentum we had built in the community after the two Tourney appearances is fading. Our attendance is down about 1000 per game this year.
All the while Siena is solidifying its hold on the Albany-area basketball fans (averaging over 7,000 per game). Its like the perfect storm against us right now.
Huge win at home , in a blizzard for Stony Brook! Final SBU 83 Maine 64.. Stony Brook led by as much as 30 at one point before the bench was emptied. Stony brook goes to 17-7 , 9-2 AE and remains in 1st place in the America East. Next game is Saturday at home against Binghamton.
Got to see UNH for the first time this year. Nice W for the Cats.
We had 1759 which is GREAT for UNH. Many of you will laugh at that number, but for a hockey school we're doing great getting the students to the games.
Stony Brook continues to roll defeating Binghamton tonight 81-61. The Seawolves are now 18-7 and 10-2 in America East play. It was also another sell out crowd tonight in which people were actually turned away prior to the game. Next game is Tuesday on the road at UMBC.

Had to go via the student section for this one. Tickets sold out about 6 hours prior. When I went at about 2ish to get a ticket (med student so not really keen on the student section) I got turned away with about two dozen or so other people. They looked pretty exasperated so my guess is they had to do that a lot yesterday.

This is really a mixed bag of good fortune. Pritchard is selling out yet we maybe souring many good fans by turning them away for the big games. So do you go with new arena and hope for the winning trend to continue in 2010-2011 or sit tight and leave alot of good fans frustrated? I know someone who showed up at 5:30 last night with his wife and three small kids and got put on a waiting list. He was there for the Maine game in the snow . I dont know if they made it in last night. I just hope we are not hurting ourselves with this small gym thing!

Double edged sword. Siena is having the same problem (albeit on a much larger scale). They tarp off almost half of the Times Union Center for every game except the Albany game which gets 13,000+ every year. The reduced capacity is about 8,000 and they've started selling those games out. They decided to keep the arena at a reduced capacity despite selling these games out and that means turning people (and families) away at the door. People aren't happy about it, but I understand it.
SBU vs. Vermont nearly sold out. Perhaps the fastest that SBU has ever sold out basketball tickets. I think I'm getting some season tickets next year....
We're also moving up in the mid major poll, just 4 teams away from a ranking

Stony Brook picks up a tough road win against UMBC tonight. Final SBU 86 UMBC 72! The Seawolves are now 19-7 and 11-2 in America East play and still in 1st place. Next game is at Albany Friday night -televised on MSG-Plus. This season has been a wild ride for a program that not too long ago had a 4 win season . And yes we may be ranked in the Mid Major Poll by next Monday

That would be great for Stony Brook and all of America East!

Thanks but first we have to get past a scary Albany team this Friday night in their house. At this point in
the season records mean very little. We could have our hands full if the Great Danes get hot.
Stony Brook goes to 20-7 and 12-2 in AE play with a thriller at Albany tonight! SBU hit a jumper with 1.8 seconds left to win 68-66 before an Albany home crowd. Kudos to Albany for a tough game and I know it was tough loss for them-been there.
Now SBU mus collect their poise and get ready for Vermont on Wednesday night at Stony Brook. That game will
more than likely decide the AE regular season title.

That was the toughest game I think we played all year. I saw alot of talent for your team next season and beyond. My concern is we lose El-Amin this year and I dont know if we have a consistent 20 point player coming along who can play Mr. Clutch .

A guy by the name of Al Rapier is joining the team from Mineral City CC next year. He's one of the top rated JuCo players in the US right now, and Mineral City is one of the best junior college basketball programs. Rapier, along with the improvement of Rouse, Preboye, and incoming David Coley (the best rated prospect we've ever had) should easily make the team a contender.
Starting lineup should be:
Dallis Joyner
Tommy Brenton
Bryan Dougher
Chris Martin
Al Rapier
Bench of Note:
Marcus Rouse
Danny Carter
Preye Preboye
David Coley
Leonard Hayes
Ahmad George
Gives us an 11 deep bench....not bad for a mid major. I think we'll end up ok, though El Amin is a huge loss. Now we just gotta improve SBU's SOS, and things will really start moving!

So who is going to step in for Brenton when someone from another team ends his career with a cheap foul? The kid is really racking up the enemies.

Brenton's a big boy and a great player. Not uncommon for great players to pick up enemies.
That being said, Carter and Joyner are vicious players, and I hear incredible things about Coley and Rapier as far as powering and leading through games.
Huge game tomorrow night when Vermont visits Stony Brook to decide the AE regular season title. The winner will get the # 1 seed in Conference Tourney next week. Both teams are talented and bring impressive records to the table.
SBU has clinched its first regular season conference title with an 82-78 win over Vermont. At one point we were up by 19, but foul trouble allowed Vermont to fight back and make it a game.
Congrats to SBU, who gets an automatic NIT berth and hosting rights to the conference championship game (on ESPN2) if it makes it that far.
Just got home and what a game! Stony Brook goes 21-7 and 13-2 in AE play. At the very least we are in the NIT . Final game of the regular season is Sunday at UNH.
Stony Brook advanced to the AE Semi Finals this afternoon by defeating a tough Albany Team 68-59! We will play Boston University in the semi's at 5pm Sunday - for the right to host the AE Championship Game on March 13th.

BU taking down SBU - SBU to the NIT. So much for the back-to-back-to-back SUNY tourney appearances.
