Was it early in the season? Also, if a teams has injured guys who don't wrestle at a particular time, coaches will take that into consideration, if the wrestlers return to action.MrTitleist wrote:Kind of surprised how high Boise is considering how North Dakota St beat them.

Re: Any College Wrestling Fans Around Here?
Interesting. I can't say that I'm 'up' on the teams out west, so I can only presume BSU knocked off some highly regarded teams in the interim and the loss to NDSU seen as an anomoly. One thing great about wrestling, like FCS football, the polls don't mean diddly in the end. It's what gets done on mat in March that tells all.MrTitleist wrote:This was in January.

Lehigh finished their season today with a 30-9 win over the Penn Quakers in the Palestra today. Over the past two years, Lehigh has gone 39-4-1 and facing 25 top 25 teams in the process. EIWA Tournament begins at Lehigh on March 6-7. Lehigh and Cornell will be the favorites, although Navy, Bucknell and Rutgers will be lurking should either falter.

If you're going to be there, look me up. I'll be there for all sessions. I think I have my seats in section 3, in the lower level.kardplayer wrote:Another good season for the Hawks... looking forward to Easterns in a few weeks.

NCAA's will be in Omaha--not all that far from the west. I'll be there March 18-20.MrTitleist wrote:I'm a little jealous.. I'd love to hit up one of these conference tournaments.
Our EIWA Tournament is the oldest of all college tournaments, starting over 100 years ago. Being at Lehigh this year, the attendance should be pretty good. Our arena holds 5600 so there are plenty of good seats and with an expected tight team race the atmosphere should be excellent.

Re: Any College Wrestling Fans Around Here?
Thanks for the listings. Amazing at some of the dissimilarities between the coaches poll and the RPI. Sometimes, I really wonder how a coach 2000 miles away, who certainly cannot see all of these kids wrestle, is able to 'rank' them. Tremendous amount of subjective and historical overlay. Our 285 pounder, Rey, is #6 in the coaches poll, but comes out #1 in the RPI. I would not want to be on the seeding commitee for the NCAA tourney.MrTitleist wrote:Have I mentioned.. A kid from my school is wrestling for the Div. III national championship tonight at the 184 lb weight class.
Cobber junior Phil Moenkedick will wrestle for the national championship on Saturday at 7 p.m. Moenkedick shut out Josh Wake 5-0 in the semifinals at the NCAA Meet on Saturday morning and advances to the national title bout for the second straight year.

Re: Any College Wrestling Fans Around Here?
Cobber junior Phil Moenkedick became the first Cobber National Champion in 32 years as he scored a 7-4 win in the national title match. He was part of a crew of three Cobber All-Americans as Justin Berns finished seventh at 149 and Ross Dankers finished eighth at 174. CC also posted their highest team finish in school history.
