Once again, the Chargers' front office proves themselves incompetent. Must have picked up their training from the Padres. First they dump two HOF-calibre quarterbacks practically in the same breath for only to keep a worthless guy just this side of Ryan Leaf, and now dumping the most popular guy on the team and one of the best RBs they've ever had to boot. Unless they have a huge trade up their sleeves, they're looking rather dumb on this. Look for lots of fans to disugise themselves as empty seats at the Murph this fall....

That's what they thought when they dumped Seau. He lasted another decade on two other teams. I wouldn't be surprised if Tomlinson did the same.

You just don't dump a team legend when you have nobody waiting to step into his spot. When the Whiners gave up on Montana, they had a great guy waiting in the wings in Young. I see nobody of that calibre coming after Tomlinson. I still say it's a mistake.

Running backs have a very short shelf life. LT won't be in the league in 3 years.

Tell that to Dorsett, Newhouse, Smith, Payton, Riggins, and Gifford. They all lasted 11 years or better as running backs (in Newhouse's case as a fullback). And there were plenty of others. It's WAY too soon to stick a fork in Tomlinson.

Something's up with the censorship program. Since when is "full-back" worthy of bleeping?!?

Why? The have Kolb and Vick.

The Eagles would have cut LT last year. They consistently cut players who seem to have a lot left in the tank, and yet; they are in the playoff mix every year.

As someone who watches the NFL more than all of you. Anyone on here that has seen pics of my NFL den can vouch for this. Since I got Sun. Ticket in 2004 I've watched part of every game minus 2 weeks where I had to travel for weddings and only got to watch the local games. Also throw in 10 years of fantasy football knowing every offensive player and even the sucky backups/3rd string helps  I've been watching the NFL since the Redskins 51-7 win over the Rams in the 1983 playoffs, I'm 32. LT is mostly dead.(name the movie) 3.3 per carry. 720 yds. Terrible. You want to look at LTs future look at Priest Holmes and Shawn Alexander at the end. Why do I say mostly? If he's behind a good line on a good team getting 10-12 carries a game you could see another 3.3 with 600-700 yds. Not 12 TDs though. So if you think those shit #s are good he can do that. Only people who hear the big name and don't watch football closely or don't play fantasy football are surprised. Thomas Jones is the only guy over 30 rockin 1200+ yd seasons. Why because he was a late bloomer and none of you heard of him when he was in Arizona & Tampa for 4 years. TJones' end is near too S.Greene is coming for his job.

Different game back then, minus smith, but still Dorestt in Denver meh, Smith in Arizona meh, Payton lost his carries to Neil Anderson I believe in the end. Riggins played till he was 35 or so and was a beast. LT is not Riggins beast wise at an old age. Oh and he aint worth 7 million in 2010. Sproles & Rookie RB(Best, Mathews, Dwyer) or RB from a Cromartie trade (M.Lynch) will out do LT/Sproles combo of 2009 unless the Charger team takes a dump and they go 6-10 in the AFC West  .

I'm thinking this is LTs last year. He might squeeze in 1 more but I'm betting on 2010. heh there could be a lock out in 2011  :o

This ^^ if you think LT has a lot left you are overrating him as much as Madden '10 does. Hes a running back and hes old. He is beat up, injury prone, and not able to be a feature back anymore with his running style. It would take too much out of him as a back to be a top back and survive. And I'm sure we are all much more football savvy than the people who make this decision (who make a living off of these decisions compared to being speculative fans on our asses and scream at tv's).

All HOF all had a "you stayed to long" ending usually with another team. Payton was smart and retired
Dorestt years 10-12 shitty
Year Team G Att Att Yds Avg Yds/G TD
1988 Denver Broncos 16 181 703 3.9 43.9 5
1987 Dallas Cowboys 12 130 456 3.5 38.0 1
1986 Dallas Cowboys 13 184 748 4.1 57.5 5
Smith yr 12-15 shitty but did last a long time on a great team and was cut once he went down hill like LT
2004 Arizona Cardinals 15 267 937 3.5 62.5 9
2003 Arizona Cardinals 10 90 256 2.8 25.6 2
2002 Dallas Cowboys 16 254 975 3.8 60.9 5
2001 Dallas Cowboys 14 261 1,021 3.9 72.9 3 (hit 1k but still sucky tds/yds per gm/car)
Payton year 13 shitty thus he retired after he didn't hit 1K
1987 Chicago Bears 12 146 533 3.7 44.4 4
Riggins year 15 (6 of the first 7 years Riggins was in the NFL he didn't have enough carries to make 1000 yds, so he stayed fresh and lasted longer)
1985 Washington Redskins 12 176 677 3.8 56.4 8

So you didn't read my post. He doesn't have a lot left and isn't a feature back, when did I ever say that. 10-12 is the #2 RB numbers. I also said he aint worthy of 7 million in 2010 just like his GM thought. Thumper is an expert at reading comprehension  Oh and everyone is a better GM than Matt Millen was.

Starts with "fu" ends with "ck" with no punctuation might be the trigger. Test case here "future-chick" vs. futurechick.
