Considering the GOP is beholden to the likes of Rush/Beck/Palin, it's no wonder moderate conservatives want to drop that quick like.

Wasn't there just a piece in the New York Times in January saying that both Crist and Rubio would support the other depending on who wins the primary?

This isn't anywhere near as nasty as the Toomey/Specter feud that prompted Specter to leave the GOP to have a shot at winning another term. Generally, Rubio and Crist get along just fine and Crist looks like a Rush-type Republican compared with Specter. And Rubio is far from the fire breather that Toomey is. In this case, it's just the case of a young up and comer in the GOP versus a guy who has a longer record because he had to actually govern.

I don't mind Crist, although the whole boondoggle he put together in Florida to basically self insure against natural catastrophes (i.e. hurricanes) is a ticking time bomb that is going to bankrupt Florida when another big one hits - that's certainly a negative against him. It will be an interesting race.
