TX State Star RB arrested on Assault Charge
A star running back for Texas State University spent Wednesday night in Hays County Jail after what police said was a dispute with his girlfriend.
Karrington Blake Bush, 22, was charged with assault causing injury/family violence. He was released from custody this morning on a $3,000 surety bond.
According to Corporal Wayne Casteel of the San Marcos Police Department, officers were summoned to the apartment Bush shares with his girlfriend minutes after 6 p.m. Wednesday.
Reports indicated the couple had quarreled after the girlfriend found messages on his cell phone. The altercation turned physical, Casteel said, leading to a point where the girlfriend was allegedly trying to strike him and he pushed her down on a bed.
“She rolled off and bumped her head,” Casteel said, which caused her pain.
He said officers who responded noted that when they got there, Bush was packing a suitcase “to at least leave for a while,” but also that the woman had “minor bruises” and scratches on her arms.

From what I can see so far how the hell did he get arrested? If the girl was attacking him and has marks on her wrists and arms then he sure as the hell shouldn't be arrested for trying to protect himself from a physical attack.

Agreed - but far too often in these cases the man is always at fault, in the police's eyes, no matter what.Ursus A. Horribilis wrote:From what I can see so far how the hell did he get arrested? Had something similar happen to a buddy of mine - his wife (now ex, thankfully) took a swing at him. He blocked the punch, which caused her to fall, doing so she landed on her wrist and broke it. He got hauled off to jail.

Yeah, I've seen that kind of shit before too. If a bitch swings at me I'm gonna make it count because just trying to stop her gets you in the same trouble anyway so there isn't much of a downside in my eyes.dbackjon wrote:Agreed - but far too often in these cases the man is always at fault, in the police's eyes, no matter what.Ursus A. What a bunch of bullshit for Bush if this story reads the way it really happened.

Re: TX State Star RB arrested on Assault Charge
If Karrington would have had a cut on his arm or any injury caused by the woman, then they both probably would have been arrested.
Instead, he is punished because he successfully fended off his attacker.
Hopefully he can get a good lawyer and prove that this was just self defense.
As for football, well that's a long ways away. I hope Coach Wright sits down with him and goes over what happened instead of just kicking him off immediately.

Re: TX State Star RB arrested on Assault Charge
Everything I say on this is prefaced on the story we know right now but I would hope the coach has the good sense to see this for what it looks like it is. As far as I can see he does need a good lawyer because he was wrongfully arrested.MaximumBobcat wrote:If Karrington would have had a cut on his arm or any injury caused by the woman, then they both probably would have been arrested.

Coach Wrights a good guy that'll sit down with players. I'm sure they'll take it out. Wright doesn't put up with bullshit on the team but for an arrest this seems to be mild for Bush.
