Maybe so but we keep ours here and then offer the guys in WA the scholarships just like you guys do. Must be something that makes them want to leave.Screamin_Eagle174 wrote:A lot more than there is in Montanada.polsongrizz wrote: There's talent in washington???![]()

THE GRIZZ: Signed two 6'8 "O" Lineman, one from WA and the other from AZ. Both guys are closer to 6'6, verified from a college coach (the AZ lineman), and the WA kid (I saw) in person at camp and game. Neither are athletic, nor bend very well. Kistler (WA lineman), actually was a 2009 grad who sat out most of his senior season (2008) with an ankle injury and then signed with no one after he graduated and sat out this last season, which means he hasn't played football for almost 2 years. Also, his head Coach at ODEA (Seattle) was a Grizz alum, wonder how he got the offer? All D-1 schools passed on both of these big guys which first year coach Plfugrad took. The scouting report and film on these 2 guys was maginal, even though their big. The Grizz are trying to keep their tradition of huge tall "O" Lineman, but may have busted on these two guys.

WTF? We better start doing a better job then.
We busted on these two guys? Odd that the assessment can be made at this early date. Hope that the kid from WA makes Talon take it in the keyster when he gets the chance.
I suppose that guys like Scott Gurnsey, Dennis Skates, Wade Skates, Peter Nguyen (and soon to be his little brother will be a Griz also) are/were all not worthy and yet they either did or are currently in the process of making their mark in games against EWU. Those are just names I threw in off the top of my head and to be honest...you EWU boys might want to start "wanting" some of those kinds of fellers.

Here's an idea.....
Why doesn't Montana schedule home and home series with other 1-AA schools and then back out of the deal when it is Montana's turn to travel to the away site?
Oh, I forgot. That IS a strategy you have already deployed..........

Hey, I hope that isn't the case, as we inked a H/H deal with you for 2013/2014.
However, methinks I remember a rumour of such an occurrence while perusing these boards.

It did happen, during other budgetary woes so you have that right. It happened to Cal Poly & SDSU and the series has been re-established with CP and we are doing a five gamer with them with I think 3 of 5 being @ CP. The SDSU game was never made up and they cashed the check but hopefully UM will schedule a series with them to make up for it also.JayBilasBitesPillows wrote:Hey, I hope that isn't the case, as we inked a H/H deal with you for 2013/2014.

ODU can consider themselves very lucky to even be coming to our house let alone us going there. It has to be out of the kindness of our hearts that this is happening.

I am a big fan of COL Nathan Jessup myself.
Just remember that he ended up on the losing side......karma maybe?
Ursus.....nobody inks a deal between schools from Virginia and Montana out of anything but potential dollars to be gained. Let's hope both squads are where we expect them to be, and we'll have a great series!

Looks like my chances of winning my bet with (can't remember who that was with) have just gone up. Is there a chance now that the return trip to UND never gets made?
I am one of the few SDSU fans that harbors no ill will toward Montana for not returning that game. It is what it is. It looked like things were heading in the right direction. Hopefully this is just a threat from the AD in an attempt to lay the groundwork for moving up.

There is an article in today's Missoulian about the budget problem...but it is different than most here are portraying it. UM athletics money is being used to pay off the currently constructed Science Building and the University has imposed a tax on all the outside money generated by the department to be spread throughout other departments on campus. Meaning that UM athletics will have less money to spend on itself.

Re: Budget problems at Montana
Some are portraying O'Day as semi-moranic for overseeing the budget and allowing it to get like this...I think he is doing a very good thing here. Letting some of the problems he faces get into the public eye, seemingly due to the financial pressure the academic side of U of M puts on the athletic department. I believe that O'Day realizes the need for the new president to understand this instead of just going with the status quo. If the athletic dept. received the money and help from the university and the state on the same level that MSU does, this would be a non-issue and the financials of the athletic dept. would be very, very healthy. Too long has the athletic dept been robbed and then made to look like the fools.

I think it was in reference to your "Thank You" comment. This is what Jessup has to do with it.
