CONWAY, S.C. - The Coastal Carolina University baseball team moved up in every national poll this week after going 5-0, which included four wins at the annual Baseball at the Beach this past weekend.

The Chants earn their highest-ever ranking in Collegiate Baseball and Baseball America, as they are ranked eighth in both polls. Coastal is ranked 10th in the ESPN/USA TODAY Coaches' poll, 12th in the Ping! Baseball poll, 13th in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) poll and 14th in the Rivals.com poll.

During the week, Coastal defeated Wake Forest 2-0 on Feb. 23. The Chants then defeated James Madison and N.C. State once and No. 4 UC Irvine twice at Baseball at the Beach. This included scoring nine runs in the bottom of the ninth for a thrilling 13-6 comeback win over UC Irvine Feb. 27.

Coastal Carolina hosts Toledo Friday, March 5 on the first day of the Caravelle Resort Invitational. First pitch is at 4 p.m., at Watson Stadium/Vrooman Field.

Coastal Carolina put together an impressive 5-0 week to raise its record to 7-1. The Chanticleers are the CollegeBaseballInsider.com Team of the Week.

No. 17 Coastal Carolina started its week with a 2-0 win at Wake Forest on Tuesday. In the Baseball at the Beach Tournament at BB&T Coastal Field in Myrtle Beach, S.C., the Chanticleers defeated James Madison, the CAA favorite, 11-7 on Friday. Coastal swept a doubleheader from No. 5 UC Irvine on Saturday, winning 7-3 and 13-6. The Chants quieted the hot bats of NC State on Sunday, 6-3. Coastal rose to No. 9 in this week’s CBI Composite Poll.

Honorable mention goes to Le Moyne, which won two of three at Southern Miss, a 2009 College World Series participant. No. 5 Texas defeated Dallas Baptist on Wednesday and swept a three-game set from No. 19 Stanford. No. 10 TCU took two of three at No. 9 Cal State Fullerton. No. 20 East Carolina topped Old Dominion on Tuesday and won two of three against No. 14 South Carolina. UCLA went 3-0, with wins at Long Beach State, against Vanderbilt and against USC at Dodger Stadium. No. 15 Rice rebounded to go 4-0 with home victories over Lamar, Elon, Nebraska and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. Washington State went 4-0 in the inaugural Brooks Wallace Memorial Classic in Lubbock, Texas, beating Bethune-Cookman twice and host Texas Tech twice. Louisville defeated Morehead State and went 3-0 in the Big East/Big Ten Challenge with wins over Michigan, Michigan State and Minnesota. Kent State won three of four at Wake Forest. Kentucky moved to 6-0 with a three-game sweep of Bowling Green. Liberty went 3-0 at the Hughes Bros. Challenge in Wilmington, N.C., with wins over Morehead State, Lehigh and host UNC Wilmington. Southern Illinois took two of three at Jacksonville State.

LU with a 5-3 loss to ODU today... no effort from our boys, and ODU gave us everything they had.

The Flames rebound from the disappointing loss with a big 9-1 win over a solid St. John's team in the rain in Lynchburg.

CCU drops to 12-2 after losing 11-10 to Illinois in the worst game I've seen CCU play since we dropped 2 in a row to Troy 2 or 3 years ago. Bullpen imploded. We were leading 7-3 in the 4th and 10-8 in the 9th.
