2010 CIT Thread
I don't like the CIT concept (reshuffling after every round so one can't see a path through the entire tournament), though I acknowledge that if they use a regionalization paradigm for the reshuffle, it WOULD tend to keep travel costs down.
There are only four teams in what I would consider the "West," and two of them really should be in the NIT, but that's the breaks. There are several worthy FCS teams here, so I expect FCS to do well.
South Dakota (22-9) @ Creighton (16-15)
Fairfield (22-10) @ George Mason (17-14)
Western Carolina (22-11) @ Marshall (23-9)
UOP (20-11) @ Loyola Marymount (18-14)
Middle Tennessee State (19-13) @ SW MO State (20-12)
Harvard (21-7) @ Appy (22-10)
U of Portland (21-10) @ UNC (24-7)
Southern Miss (20-13) @ LA Tech (23-10)
SuperHornet's Predictions
Creighton in an upset
Geo Mason
Marshall
UOP
SW Mo
Harvard
UNC
LA Tech
Assuming Regionalization:
UNC @ UOP
Creighton @ Harvard
Geo Mason @ Marshall
SW Mo @ LA Tech
Again, these are just guesses as the powers that be could do ANYTHING with the winners.

Thanks, Jon. I was going off of the CIT site, which didn't have those records.

Re: FCS repping the CIT
I wouldn't really call Creighton an upset. This has been a bad year, but they still finished 4th in the MVC and have a good amount of talent. Just no team cohesion.

Re: FCS repping the CIT
I so hope my Cats knock off Marshall in Huntington. I think all current SoCon schools love to have the opportunity to beat those guys after they left the SoCon in 96. Schools have never forgotten their fans or their attitudes. 2 years ago WCU baseball knocked off Marshall in Cullowhee on a cold February Sunday and their players, coaches and fans were all equally pricks about it. God, it was great beating them. Hope we can do it in hoops. Hope ASU beats Harvard as well.

a WCU player, while retrieving for a loose ball WITH NO TIME LEFT, inadvertently called for a timeout. WCU didn't have anymore so we got the Chris Webber treatment, refs put .5 back on the clock, MU sinks 2 FTs and we miss a desparation pass. Oh and Marshall got to go to the foul line a whopping 48 times to our 12. Hmmm...........dbackjon wrote:Tuesday's Results:

heartbreaking loss but best season in 40 years. Finished 22-12, back to back winning seasons since 95-96 and 96-97. Looking forward to next season!

Re: 2010 CIT Thread
Northern Colorado beats Portland, 81-73.
The Bears shot 56% from the field, though the Pilots shot 55% from the arc to make things interesting. NoCo had 5 players in double-figures. A first-round CIT loss seems to be a bit of a disappointing end for a Portland team that got into the top-25 in November.
This is the first national postseason win for the Big Sky since Montana's upset of Nevada in the 2006 NCAAs. This is the first non-NCAA postseason win for the Big Sky since Montana State's win at Utah State in the 2002 NIT.

Not that I'm not still pulling for them, but assuming we win this thing - does that make us the 141st best team in the country ?ASUMountaineer wrote:Little would be more pleasing than beating the Blundering Turd.catamount man wrote:

Yeah. At least one Big Sky team will get a postseason win. Montana's men & EWU's women both have shots to win, but not great ones. PSU's women don't stand a chance.dbackjon wrote:Congrats to Northern Colorado!!

Re: 2010 CIT Thread
Wednesday's CIT Results:
UOP 86, LMU 76.
SW MO State 87, Middle TN State 79.
Appy 93, Harvard 71.
UNC 81, U of Portland 73.
This leaves So Miss @ LA Tech for tomorrow night. Quarterfinal matchups for 22 MAR (no official bracket) will wait until that game is final.
Interesting note for the CIT: only one road team wins: UOP. I'm wondering if that will hold up tomorrow night.
BTW, congrats go out to Fairfield and Appy: they are the only two teams to mess up an otherwise perfect CIT for me, completely unlike the CBI.

Re: 2010 CIT Thread
I would think, with the NCAA (65), the NIT (32), and the CBI (16)...that would make the CIT winner (assuming the CBI is better than the CIT) the 114th best team in the country.ASUG8 wrote:Not that I'm not still pulling for them, but assuming we win this thing - does that make us the 141st best team in the country ?ASUMountaineer wrote:

Yup...at least in Div. I basketball it's not quite over 50% of teams getting a postseason like in FBS.ASUG8 wrote:I just picked a number honestly....not too far off for a guessASUMountaineer wrote:

Plus, varsity gym was getting too confined for graduation - Holmes can accomodate some decent sized shows now also.
