Bruin: We Will Finish Cooke If Oportunity Arises
David Krejci: "if there's a chance to finish that guy (Matt Cooke) we're not gonna hesitate"
The NHL has its top officials handling tonights game and the leagues head disciplinarian will be there as well.
But since the NHL has already refused to handle Cooke, I hope the Bruins fuck him up good tonight.

I'm not so sure the hit was all that dirty.

I've seen far worse, but the hit was somewhat dirty. You can see on super slo-mo that it wasn't incidental. Cooke definitely steered toward the head and stiffened his elbow for the hit. Even so, Savard knows better than to play with his head down coming over the blue line. Instead, he was admiring his shot and not watching his right.
The NHL is talking about severe penalties for any shot to the head, and that is the solution.
Tangent alert: They should probably also increase their drug testing. I'm guessing a sizeable percentage of the league is on some sort of stimulant, be it coke, meth, or other. Watching some of these players, it's pretty obvious to me that they are hopped up on something. /tangent

Why do you care? With free agency and trades it's possible that Cooke might be on the Bruins next year, if that happens you'll think he's great.UNHWildCats wrote:David Krejci: "if there's a chance to finish that guy (Matt Cooke) we're not gonna hesitate"

I didn't like the hit either but I find it hard to get worked up over stuff like this when players change teams so frequently.

The initial showing was hard to see because the hit left the screen before the play was over. The first time I watched it, the stupid thing pixeled out on me. Dumb computer....
That said, at speed, it's hard to tell if it was dirty or not. Even in slo-mo, I had a hard time because it looked like Cooke may have hit Savard in the shoulder area. However, it was the hockey equivalent of the crackback block in football, which is illegal regardless of where on the body the hit occurs. While I'm not sure of hockey's interpretation of the crackback concept, if it's not illegal, it SHOULD be. Perhaps this hit wasn't dirty, but it ought to be penalized severely anyway. That's taking a hockey thing from a football perspective, which may be objectionable to true hockey fans, but that's my take on it.

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.

Cooke may have intended to hit Savard in the shoulder area, which is not a dirty hit, but he hit him in the head. In Cooke's defense, Savard's head was down as the result of the follow though on his shot which may be why the NHL gave Cooke a pass.SuperHornet wrote:The initial showing was hard to see because the hit left the screen before the play was over. Cooke got his justice at the hands of the Bruins.
