Hey, I'm not the one who brought the comparison to App State's win over Michigan up and I'm also not the first one to comment on it. I came into the thread strictly to congratulate Northern Iowa and talk about how cool I think it is that they won. But if somebody's going to compare the two in terms of being unprecendented upsets, there's no comparison. App State was not only the first I-AA/FCS team to beat a top 25 I-A/FBS, it was the first I-A/FCS team to ever beat a "major" conference I-A/FBS team that finished with a winning record.

Now, if Northern Iowa goes on to win a national championship as a #9 regional seed, THAT will be unprecedented. And I'd love it if they did it.

The UNI fan base knew we could beat them, but no one else though we could. Much like the ASU/UM game.

Who said anything about shocked? There were no great NCAA basketball teams this year, this is a nice win for UNI, but I am not shocked by it. UNI was ranked in the Top 25 for much of the year, I am not shocked that they beat KU.

CONGRATS TO UNI!!!! I was definitely rootin' for Kansas to go down and was watching the first parts of the game. Was definitely surprised to see they finished it out. I'm headed to Vegas tomorrow, and will certainly be sporting the UNI (football ) shirt I have from Clenz' pick'em dealio. Hope to see a couple Kansas fans while down there so I can talk shit.

There is no discernable difference between a 9 seed and an 8 seed. An 8 seed HAS won the national championship.
