"A victory for common sense."
That's what I heard a President say.
But common sense would tell any reasonable person that entitlement programs lie at the root of the chronic fiscal problems of the country. Common sense would tell any reasonable person that we should be looking at ways to roll back entitlement programs that already existed rather than trying to establish new ones.
Oh...and common sense would tell any reasonable person that there is no way establshment of an entitlement program is going to result in less government cost.
The idea that government should attempt to ensure access to health care is not common sense. It is irrational egalitarianism.

Well, I believe that I must tell the truth
And say things as they really are
But if I told the truth and nothing but the truth
Could I ever be a star?

Common sense would dictate tort reform, but no, we mustn't jeopordize the donk's chances in 2010 any more than they are now by hurting Obama's trial lawyer friends. Now doctors are going to have to go through the red tape to approve any test or procedure...and malpractice insurance costs are going to become even more exorbitant, which will either add on to the costs of healthcare and defeat the purpose of the bill or bring down doctor pay (which will drive people out of the profession).

Common sense would suggest that Northern European are some master race of freakish super-intellgents that have created a higher standard of living with lower healthcare costs that we are simply incapable of.JohnStOnge wrote:"A victory for common sense."
