Ursus lays down HIS top 25 for this week
Please excuse the use of 3rd person speak and ponder all the significant time and effort I put in on this ranking...
1. James Madison
2. Appalachian St.
3. Cal Poly
4. Wofford
5. Northern Iowa
6. Elon
7. Villanova
8. Richmond
9. Montana
10. Massachusetts
11. McNeese St.
12. Southern Illinois
13. New Hampshire
14. Central Arkansas
15. Western Illinois
16. Liberty
17. Furman
18. Weber St.
19. Northern Arizona
20. North Dakota St.
21. South Dakota St.
22. Hampton
23. Georgia Southern
24. Tennessee St.
25. William & Mary
MOST SIGNIFICANT WIN OF THE WEEK: James Madison
MOST SIGNIFICANT LOSS OF THE WEEK: McNeese St.
A couple of thoughts on the other two Big Sky teams in the ranking:
Weber's offense is solid as the day is long and they have a very good "D" as well.
NAU has a well rounded "O" that seems to be gaining some swagger, and they have a lot of fellas that find the ball quickly on "D" and hit and tackle very soundly. I was impressed watching NAU and the speed on defense. If Montana continues to improve on both sides of the ball then the game against NAU may be one hard hitting son of a bitch with many fireworks.

NAU and WSU way too low - both top Twelve teams...
Otherwise - good rankings.

To be truthful dback I struggled with that but I didn't want to seem like a homer so I figure that both teams are good enough to be making the slow climb by the end of the season anyway so I didn't want to just knee jerk the thing. They are both probably top 15 teams right now but you know how solidly and seriously I want to be taken for my efforts...dbackjon wrote:NAU and WSU way too low - both top Twelve teams...

The list looks pretty good to me. Better than what I would come up with. I would probably have Weber St. a little higher, but there's a lot of football left so poll position isn't that important at the moment.Ursus A. Montana got beat by Weber - they should be ahead of the Griz

See now that's exactly the kind of knee jerk thing I try to avoid. What's Cal Poly doing up at #3 if I use that kind of specious reasoning?dbackjon wrote:You better THINK...Ursus A. Oh I'm sure you would have come up with similar results if you had put the same amount of effort in big fella.BlueHen86 wrote: The list looks pretty good to me. Better than what I would come up with. I can honestly say that NAU may be better than Weber right now and both are playing slightly better than the Griz right now but if the young D keeps turning in performances like last week and we go to a little more pressure defense as we did this last week then things are gonna be interesting for the Big Sky Conference this post season. I've seen a lot of playoff teams in my day and right now both Weber and NAU are at that level but I've seen too many BSC teams with their destiny in their own hands shit the bed too many times. NAU is one of the most notable in this regard but Jerome Sauers is an old defensive guy and he really has it rolling in Flagstaff right now.

Shut your yipper or I will stop giving NAU the credit they deserve and drop them out altogether. Typical liberal looking for credit for something they haven't put the time in on to have others take notice of them.dbackjon wrote:

Re: Ursus lays down HIS top 25 for this week
Thanks Tbird, I appreciate your input but I'm not moving Montana down they are right about where I thought should be within a place or two and they are showing some signs of life on defense and they don't traditionally lose the turnover wars like they did in two games this year that affected the outcomes. I don't think that will continue so I hold out hope that they will continue to improve but the wars are just beginning so they will have their chance to drop if they falter just as the others have the chance to rise with good performances.

They've lost 3 or their last four so I think it's reasonable to not have them in there and AZ has a thing against some of their posters so there is an emotional level that must be considered.grizzaholic wrote:no NDSU?AZGrizFan wrote:1. James Madison

I know. Just pushing AZ a little. They wouldn't be in my 25 if I did one up.

Ursus.......here is the latest on Maine from the Bangor Daily News:
http://www.bangordailynews.com/detail/91060.html
The QB and RB (Farkas and Fluellen) that we started the season with are out with injuries......but the silver lining is that we beat Delaware on the road with QB Brusko and RBs Turcotte and Session (both redshirt Freshmen ) Anyway, keep an eye on Maine......they have 3 straight at home (Hofstra, Northeastern, Iona) and 4 of their last 6 at home including the season finale with UNH. If Maine wins their next 2 vs. Hofstra and Northeastern, please give them consideration for your Top 25.

Damn, Brusko sounds like a real athlete. Big mobile kid at QB can cause a whole lotta hearache. Having him as the holder can make for some interesting fake scenarios also. Thanks for the information and keep posting it for us out west as it's hard to keep up with your teams in the east without a little help. I appreciate the link MJ. They win the next couple and they are officially a team to keep an eye on.mainejeff wrote:Ursus.......here is the latest on Maine from the Bangor Daily News:
