Congress just passed a total boondoggle under circumstances in which, incredibly, the majority of the American People had enough sense to be opposed to it. The point is that he took an unpopular position and got threats. It's going to happen. When you are dealing with hundreds of millions of people holding any particular position there are going to be plenty of people who do things that are embarassing.

He paid himself - the only employee of his charity - from money that was "given" to him for doing 1 hour of work a week...

Can you see the irony - keeping money from people who didn't earn it - all the while paying yourself from money that was "given" to you... something like $3,400 a week of other peoples money - for one hour of work...
