I assume you're being sarcastic about the "unbiased announcers" but yes, I do consider it a slight insult when we are referred by that name.
App fans: we UOP fans would love for you to check out our board as we prepare to duke it out tomorrow night. We already have one App fan over there, and he's already reminded us that UOP and App are in the same conference -- in NorPac field hockey. That's hard to fathom, but I checked out the conference site; it's true.

I'm surprised youse guys didn't try to claim a win by forfeit. We'll see if we can make you pay for your largesse.
Seriously, though, good luck tonight. Hopefully I'll be able to get a feed. I couldn't for the UNC game.

I didn't get to hear tonight's game, but from what I saw on the UOP board, App played a really good game. The one App fan that came over mentioned some good recruiting that could lead App to the NCAAs next year. Good luck.

While that is technically true, Jon, it seems that no student ever attended UOP under the name of California Wesleyan College. While the California State Supreme Court commissioned the school in Santa Clara as Cal Wesleyan 10 JUL 2851, the name changed to College of the Pacific in 1852 before the first classes started.
We have a bunch of interesting firsts. My favorite is the 1878 establishment of the first Conservatory of Music west of the Mississippi. We have since added the Dave Brubeck Institute, named after our famous jazz-playing alumnus.
We even had the first medical school in Cali (established 1858), though that later merged with Stanford. We've since added a dental campus in SF and a law school in the Sacred City (a former law faculty member is on SCOTUS).

I listened to the game, we did not play well. Losing by 19 at the half. UOP slowed it down, and it was like the SoCon championship game all over again. Great season by the APPS, can't complain considering what was expected. Good luck to UOP in the championship game. Is it football season yet?
Appalachian State Mountaineers:

NO DOUBT ABOUT IT! WE'RE GONNA SHOUT IT! NOTHING'S HOTTER THAN A-S-U!

Congrats UOP
Touche. The Apps baseball team is playing well, hope we take it to El Cid this weekend.

I can't wait.

SW Missouri State opened up a can of whoop-@$$ on UOP from the 10-min mark of the second half on, pulling away from UOP 78-65 after a key timeout with UOP up 6.
I'd like to blame Nunnally, who couldn't hit a free throw to save his life. But that doesn't work because there was a Bear with a weird name (Nafis Ricks) who couldn't hit down the stretch, either. I'd like to blame the officials, who started calling cr@zy things against UOP after that timeout. But that doesn't work, either, because not all the fouls were cr@p. It just comes down to increased SMS hustle from that timeout on.
I didn't get the game until about a minute or so left in the first half, so I really have no justification for tr@shing the choice of Will Creekmore as tournament MVP; I just didn't see that much of him after he sat with four fouls early in the second half. I was more impressed with Bear Adam Leonard, who in my mind sealed the game with clutch shooting from the line in the "fourth quarter" after having not shot free throw one until then.
