McNabb to Rams Talks Heating Up

Post by 93henfan »

For 33rd pick and FS Oshiomogho Atogwe

I'd do that deal quicker than Tiger Woods could show a porn star the pimp hand.

I like that for the Rams too. The Rams are thinking of drafting Oklahoma QB Sam Bradford, I much rather see them draft a stud defensive end, like Suh.

Right now this trade is not even out there, but I would love if the Eagles got something like this. Hopefully the Rams don't like Bradford next week and they decide to look back into McNabb.

Is Kevik Kolb really a starting QB in the NFL?

Why not? And why not try? McNabb's had 11 some years to take the Eagles to the title and he hasn't done it and there's no indication he's getting better. And at some point he will be too old, so why not take the gamble now on a kid whom they've seen first hand for 3 years now and is probably a better fit for the system the Eagles want to run. It's not like Kolb looked bad in his two starts last year - he actually looked pretty good. Small sample size, sure, but the big sample size we have on McNabb isn't encouraging in terms of winning a title anytime soon.

I'm impatient. That's why. My NFL life could get really bad if Shanahan and Bruce Allen were able to turn around the Skins while the Eagles take a dive. It would be insufferable around here. :x

I wouldn't count on that Hen! You lived through the second coming of Christ Almighty Gibbs, I imagine you can make it through this little blip of festering hope.

I know. I keep reminding all the Skins fans around here how excited they were when Spurrier was coming, then how excited they were when Gibbs was returning, then how excited they were when Zorn started 6-2... now they are all pensive and here I am thinking this is the start of a new beginning for them. :|

BTW, not that it means anything, but one of the websites I use for college and pro past records goes back to 1945 and lists the teams in winning percentage order. This is the first year the Eagles aren't listed on the bottom of the NFC East... the Skins are now #4. :thumb:

They'd only be getting rid of McNabb - they still have Jackson and McCoy and Avant and Celek and Maclin and Weaver. It's not like the basket is empty in Philly, and heck, even Baskett is back (and Kendra too). This was an 11-5 playoff team last year - they're not going to go straight into the crapper and finish behind the Skins just by changing out McNabb for Kolb. I mean, that's just crazy talk!!!

I don't see the Eagles challenging for a Super Bowl this year no matter who the QB is. Might as well trade McNabb while he has some value. The Eagles also haven't extended his contract, which means this is his last year in Philly (unless something changes). I think the front office has made up their minds and are trying to unload McNabb, at this point I'd be suprised if he's back next year.

Supposedly, the Raiders are in the mix. This would fit Davis' M.O.: pick up a supposedly washed up player, particularly a QB (i.e. George Blanda, Jim Plunkett and Rich Gannon; Ted "The Stork" Hendricks was a good defensive example) and turn him into something wonderful.

Not sure that's possible with McNabb, but it would be just like them to do it. The Russell experiment is a colossal failure, so they may as well.

No, Paul Orndorff never played for the Raiders that I know of. Wahoo McDaniel did, but not Paul Orndorff.

I take offense to the notion that Gannon was a washed up player when he went to the Raiders. First, that implies that he was great before that, and really Gannon had a limited NFL resume before that (thanks to the ineptitude of Denny Green, who benched Gannon after leading the Vikes to an 8-3 record one year, only to have the Vikes collapse as a result and not even make the playoffs). And second, Gannon was stifled in KC where he should've been starting ahead of Elvis Grbac and most Chiefs fans were pissed when he left for Oakland because most realized the better QB left. Gruden knew what he was doing in getting Gannon.

Sorry if I misspoke. I didn't mean to intimate that I thought Gannon was washed up. I liked him back when he was with the Vikes and getting no real chance. My point in comparing him to the others is that the COMMON PERCEPTION of them was that they were done. They got another chance with the Raiders and proved up to the challenge. I think Gannon's problem was a similarity to Flutie, though not as bad: too short for the hidebound NFL intelligentsia. They just don't get that, yes, us short guys CAN TOO play quarterback in the NFL.

Well, this seems familiar. After Michael Vick was made a saint by falcons fans for getting us to the NFCCC, they pretty much turned on him after we had a rough period in the years following that game. Many fans wanted him benched or to send him off and find another QB. Finally falcons fans get their wish when he is arrested and is no longer the QB by default. And the falcons had an absolutely dismal year that was worse than any year we had while Vick was QB. I know we have Ryan now, but I don't see Atlanta even sniffing a chance at a super bowl game with him.

I don't think the common perception is that McNabb is done. I think most people think he has a lot left in the tank. It's just that the Eagles have three QB's right now and are looking to trade one of them. If they get the right offer they might trade Kolb instead.

Funny how Rich Gannon could be washed up & then win a MVP. Looks more likely that an Eagles-Raiders deal involving McNabb is imminent.

The same thing was said of Plunkett after the Patsies AND the Whiners both gave up on him. Two Super Bowls later, and he's the toast of the Bay Area again. The Raiders didn't have a decent quarterback after that until Gannon, and he was a cast-off, too.
