One of two milestone wins, the other win #1000 by Mark Johnson...after sweeping UTSA on the road...

I should have stated AT TXST as this is the SLC thread.

Mr. Johnson's should be under just general Baseball with his wins at SHSU noted. Do you have that? I can look it up.
Harrington @ TXST
351-260
SLC
192-110
TXST has only had 25 years of baseball (since 1985). Harrington is the 4th and longest lasting coach. They (SWT/TXST) have had only 4 overall losing seasons and 6 in the SLC, none of the SLC losing records has been under coach H. 1 overall with coach H (29-30, 2006) but that is because of the SLC tournament. the SLC record that season was 20-10.

Feel free to look it up...

Feel bad for Harrington. Was never able to 'move up' in the coaching world. And before you say it's not possible for an SLC coach to make the move up, have you seen where many of those Northwestern State coaches have gone to?

Bob Marlin (yes, in hoops) did not want to be like his old boss, Mike Vining (ULM), who got stuck in Monroe after a certain while, because he passed up too many opportunities.

Harrington could've had success at another level, but sounds like it has passed him by...

124-88

Harrington is happy where he is. They renewed his contract last year, finally got his assistants to be paid, got a new batting coach and his goal is to take TXST to the CWS. I would think, if he wanted to test the waters, someone would come calling. He's only 42(or 43 at most)

You don't know everything. :ohno:

Never said anything wrong, did I?

While the SLC has improved, would think that he should have jumped in the last 2-3 years, if not really soon...then again, maybe he wants to ride out this FBS attempt and see if TXST gets in a decent conference, since he has a good situation...

Can someone else explain to this young man how this is a dig at Harrington and how his statement he said nothing wrong, is wrong?

At this point in his baseball career, both are true.

He has not moved on and since he has not, he has not showed he can have success at a 'higher level' if you will. There is no knock on his ability to coach, since it is true that he has had success at TXST. The question is, whether or not, he is going to be a guy that gets 'stuck' (not that it is a bad thing - happened to SLC great Mike Vining in hoops) or jumps at an opportunity (Jim Wells comes to mind - heard of him?)

CatMom - in baseball, the SLC is a mid-major conference. In most other sports, we are a low major. Talking about 'moving up' is some of the same stuff that many of those at your university talk about when it comes to your school leaving the SLC.

I've got no problem with you, as you evidently do with me and UTSA. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, right? You, I, everyone.

The problem with that, is when I call you out, it's about inaccurate information. When you have posted something that can be proven wrong - whether it is about a conference, school, NCAA rule, etc.

Enjoy your day...

You do realize that even USC is a directional school. Not condoning that they used this in their preview but any school with a map direction in their name can be labeled as such.

TXST used to be SWT - directional
NWS - directional
WKU - directional
UCF - directional

the list is fairly large.

I will no longer be bringing you SLC baseball as I don't know anything and provide inaccurate information. Let someone who doesn't go to the games keep track....I'm outta here.
