How? He didn't do anything to lose his license, and he's in a heavily republican area so now, any republican with a broke dick is going to request a referral to him. Pretty smart if you ask me, in poor taste, but smart.dbackjon wrote:Pretty stupid on his part.

Re: Doctor tells Obama supporters: Go elsewhere for health care
On the topic of doctor's refusing to see someone, even the Huffington Post gets it:
"...Shortly before the penultimate vote, Democrats trumpeted the bill as reducing the deficit. They relied on last minute scoring from the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) reporting that the bill will reduce the federal deficit by $138 billion over 10 years. As a result, proponents declared the bill as good for the deficit and the economy.
History will prove whether this claim is true. But anyone who has even peeled back one layer of this onion knows the CBO was boxed in to giving a distorted picture. This law will be proven quickly to expand our bloated deficit and sadly the media was asleep at the switch and did not report on it.
The big distortion occurred by the CBO assumption that the 21 percent cut in doctors' Medicare reimbursements would stay in place. The 21 percent drop in doctors' pay began April 1 (no April Fools) and was included by CBO scorekeepers as permanent. This allowed them to claim $450 billion in Medicare savings. Yet, the same politicians who voted for the bill have also promised doctors a "fix" and that they will restore the drastic cuts in Medicare reimbursement.....
Even before the 21 percent cuts, increasing numbers of doctors refused to take Medicare patients, as the Medicare reimbursements are tiny compared to private insurance reimbursements, not even factoring in the cost and time of the additional paperwork, audits and hassle of collecting from the government bureaucracy. With a 21 percent cut in Medicare reimbursement, tens of thousands more doctors will refuse Medicare patients and the goal of getting more Americans health coverage will be countered by fewer available doctors. Medicare patients, our oldest Americans, will suffer, and a marketplace form of rationing will be imposed.
This real problem begins this month, and the promise to "fix" Medicare reimbursements puts both Democrats and Republicans in a pickle. If they don't reverse the Medicare cuts, thousands of doctors will close their doors to Medicare patients, depriving millions of needed health care and belying the promise of the health care bill. But if they vote to restore the doctors' cuts, then the myth of deficit neutrality will be exposed for Democrats,...."

Any person that even listened to the arguments made on the CBO report understands that the numbers created by the legislation were a game and that the the possibility of hitting the numbers are severely in doubt. I have heard democrats use the numbers over and over but I have never heard one even come close to effectively disputing the charge that the numbers are not real.BDKJMU wrote:On the topic of doctor's refusing to see someone, even the Huffington Post gets it:

With that said, Doctors take an oath and part of that oath is "Whatever houses I may visit, I will come for the benefit of the sick". Seems like he forgot that part.

If YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING, Medicare is the most effiecent, fastest, most-hassle-free provider to collect from.
We get money from Medicare 14 days after we bill. No other provider comes close. Never been audited, because we follow Medicare's clear guidelines.
I wish all carriers were as good as Medicare - would reduce our office overhead tremendously.

You should. Doctors take an oath to heal the sick, this guy is more concerned with the bottom line. There is nothing wrong with making money, but his lack of compassion and understanding leads me to believe that this guy is unqualified.BDKJMU wrote:I sure as hell wouldn'tOL FU wrote:I didn't vote for Obama, but if I saw that sign on the door I would certainly go elsewhere
His "I'm taking my ball and going home" approach is also childish. I'd be embarrassed if this were my doctor.

No it's not because I used to audit hospital billing departments. Though I'm sure some of their horrendous policies have changed since then.dbackjon wrote: Much of this is incorrect (I should know, I work for a large medical practice.

1. Medicare paid/pays haphazardly. They used to pay only on certain days of the month, and if that day fell on a Saturday or Sunday or a holiday, you didn't get paid until the next month.
2. Medicare doesn't pay jack...that goes without saying.
3. Medicare is 2X more likely than private insurance to deny claims.
4. Medicare employees are incompetent. It's a government run entity so it will be ran poorly, but I was auditing a hospital in Birmingham, AL. As I was clicking through their billing records, I came across a patient who was admitted 1 time. I think they stayed the night maybe 2 nights. The claim was billed to Medicare and they paid it......18 different times. We're talking about $100's of thousands of taxpayer dollars, and you just can't send the money back. The hospital made countless calls to Medicare, even I called while I was there. They couldn't have cared less. If there is one thing that hospitals hate more than people not paying their bills, is carrying credit balances to insurance companies or medicare/medicaid.

Medicare pays daily now. You submit a bill, 14 days later yo uget paid
Most plans pay at or near Medicare rates
At least in our speciality, private carriers deny claims at 5-10x the rate of Medicare
What you were experiencing was not Medicare, but the private intermediaries. Recent reforms have totally revamped Medicare. Mof these reforms happened under the last admin.
Medicaid is state run. State run plans are the worst.

Good, I'm glad they changed some of their practices, but from what I understand there are still some major problems. MD's are dropping Medicaid at a much quicker rate then Medicare, but many are still capping their number of Medicare patients.dbackjon wrote: You haven't done this lately, have you?

I fixed the error, Medicare paid that one claim 18 times, not Medicaid.
