I'm not a Duke fan by any means, but I never understood the hate.

The reasons I always hear is "the media overhypes them every year". Like that is their fault. Like Duke's players and Coach K control ESPN, CBS, SI, etc...


"They players are douches" - really how? Because they don't play the street ball that you are used too? Because they play fundamental ball? Are a good team with a bunch of white boys?

I don't hate Duke, I just root against them - in large part because I'm a UConn fan. UConn and Duke have met a few times in the NCAA tourney.

I respect Dukes program and Coach Kzryzewski, I just like to see them lose.

I hate the way Coach K "works the refs." I hate the douchiness of the players at Duke (all you have to do is watch them play). I hate the way they play the game (live by three, die by the three--unfortunately they live more than they die). I especially hate their fans. I hate that Duke University was originally founded as Trinity College in my hometown of Trinity, NC... I hate them slapping the court. Chris Collins is a prick.

Simply, I hate the University of New Jersey at Durham.

So you mean doing exactly what every other coach in the nation does? You show me a coach that doesn't "work the refs" and I'll show you a team that would lose to Bryant or NJIT.

What about them? I watched them 11 times this past year, excluding the tourney, and I didn't really see anything from them that I didn't see from other teams. I saw they were a lot more white than all the other teams. Play a lot more of a "team style" than the other teams. I saw they seemed to play with more heart than the other teams. Their movements didn't always look smooth like the other teams, but they were effective.

Do you hate every team that does that? There are a lot of teams that shoot a lot of threes. The fact that Duke makes them is what makes you hate them. Going off of regular season stats Duke was 64th in 3pts attempted but was 24th in % made at 38.5. You're a Wake fan right? I think the issue you have is that Wake only shot 31% from 3, or 282nd in the nation.

I hope you hated Butler in the post season, they shot more threes than any other team during post season play...15 more than the second most Dayton, and 19 more than Duke. The difference is Duke made just as many as Butler with 19 less shots. If you go by 3 point attempts per game Duke shot 18 per game in the post season (74th in the nation) and Butler shot 22 (41st). During the regular season Duke was 81st at 20 per game and Butler was tied with them at 20.

I understand this. I can't stand Cowboy, Cubs, UNC, Iowa, OSU, USC, Yankmee, White Sox, Notre Dame....I could go on for hours in terms of fan bases I don't like.

These people wish their team had a coach with the ability to recruit, teach and work the refs like Coach K does. They also wish their team's game were on national TV every weekend and were talked about everday on Sportscenter, etc...

They also wish their team had 27 world championships or 4 NCAA championships.
