USA Football and the International Federation of American Football have announced the roster Team USA will send to Sweden this June and July for the inaugural World Championship of Women's American Football.
I have mixed feelings about this roster. On the plus side, my first favorite Sacramento Siren EVER, RB-KR Julie Wicher-Shockley, made the team even though she has played ONE game since returning from a five-year retirement this season. On the minus side, no safeties or specialists are on the list. That means my ultimate favorite girl football player, safety Amy Williams, isn't going. The Sirens also have an outstanding kicker in Jen Bloom who hit from 40 yards last season and the California Quake (Long Beach) have or at least have access to a kicker who has hit from 44 in the past. Both have the leg to kick a 50-yarder, but no kickers are on the team.
I'd like to know what the coaching staff was thinking.
That said, it probably won't matter. Team USA is the #1 seed and likely the only squad we'll have to worry about will be #2 seed Canada.

Team USA Roster FINALLY Announced

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.

You got me, bandl. Boy, you're quick. As soon as I saw your name, I knew the jig was up.

To be totally honest, I thought this thread was about the USMNT World Cup soccer roster. When I saw that it wasn't, I immediately thought of that other thread and it was just too easy to pass up!SuperHornet wrote:You got me, bandl. Boy, you're quick. You know it'll be me or EPJr posting the real roster when it's announced. There's supposed to be a preliminary 30 man roster released in about a month, but Bradley doesn't have to use any of those guys and can apparently change the 23 until like a day before England game.bandl wrote:To be totally honest, I thought this thread was about the USMNT World Cup soccer roster.
