McNeese runs a "Multiple Pro" offense and a 4-2-5 Defense.

Albany game notes helpfully inform that we use 'multiple' offense and 'multiple' defense.

But it's mostly I-formation running, shotgun passing with a little wildcat, and mainly a 4-4-3 defense. But we'll see after losing all four linebackers from last year.

Southeastern Louisiana runs a multiple spread offense that will feature more I-formation and two back in 2010...Defensively, we'll be more of a 4-2-5 team in order to get our best personnel on the field, but we'll also occasionally run some 4-3 and 3-3-5.

Rumor out of UNI spring practice is that we are going to a 3-4 to counter lack of depth on the d line. Big shift from the last couple of years when that has been the deepest part of the team.

I think UNI used a 3-4 in 2005 and that worked out pretty well.

I also think that Coach Farley got his start in the 3-4 under an assitant for Terry Allen and as a player under Darrell "Dr. Victory" Mudra

After watching two spring scrimmages I think the closest thing I can think of for the new Montana offense is the Texas Tech offense. Mostly 4 wideouts, TE split out often, 1 back, hurry up run and shoot type offense. Might be similar to what Hawaii does also. But I'd say Texas Tech because we have some great RB's and we'll use them. I look for the RB's to still get 120-140 yards a game but our passing should balloon to over 300 yards per game. It's definitely not the Oregon, WV, or App. State spread option as some thought.

On Defense you'll see lot's of blitzing from the 4-3. The blitz could come from the corner, linebacker, or safety. It will come often and the DC is great at disguising where it's coming from. It will be a risk taking defense that will depend on the corners to cover one on one many times. We ran this same Defense back in 2000-2003 and had a safety that had 15 sacks one season.

I heard that Lennon made him a believer in the 3-4 at your Homecoming last year.

SIU will stay with the 3-4 this year and change offenses for the third time in four years.

This year we'll be spraying short passes all over the field ala Flacco and UD and the rumor is that any back who can't catch will be riding the pine.

What would last year's homecoming have anything to do with it? Your amazing run game put up 4.4 yards per carry on us, below what UNI put on you (4.9) and you averaged 10 yards per completion and UNI averaged 16. Seriously, outside of Fat Grace goines "Gee, no WR around with less than 10 min left in the fourth, might as well throw the ball right to the SIU linebacker for a pick 6 25 yard return" UNI dominated that game.

The 3-4 move is all because we have 2 defensive lineman back that saw PT last year, and we have 6 or 7 linebackers that are deserving of PT.

Dominated? Dude, you were 2/10 on 3rd down.

You must be thinking of a different game.

UNI had fewer 1st downs, (even with 3 penalty 1st downs), fewer yards rushing, less time of possession, (especially in the 4th quarter - 9+minutes to 5+ minutes), was stuffed twice on 4th and short (a good indicator of who was more physical), and got steamrolled up the middle on 4th and goal for a TD. :coffee:

You did manage to keep Karim's long to 28 yards, which was pretty good, considering his explosiveness and UNI's D not being the fastest. I thought that maybe that had something to do with switching to the 3-4 in a join-'em-if you can't-beat-'em kind of way, that's all. But maybe not, I don't know.

Take a look at all the stats, not just the categories you "won". You failed to mention UNI ran the ball less times, but had a higher average. You had 2 more first downs. The TOP was lop sided due to UNI throwing the ball in the fourth quarter and SIU running the ball.

You're more than welcome anytime, Thump - you may have to sleep on the couch or on hay in the barn, but I guarantee hot food and shower. :thumb: Certainly I can see where you're needing to expand your trash talk horizon - right now trashin with the Bison fans isn't fair -(insert clubbing baby seal smiley here). Kind of sad, I was looking forward to some competition for dominating the MVC - but with UNI taking a powder and NDSU being apparently very much over rated,(by themselves, anyway) it's getting lonely here at the top.

Lonely at the top of what?

You have 5, count them, conference titles (only 2 of them being outright). None of those titles came before 2003. UNI, on the other hand has 14 conference titles and 5 during the last decade (Out of UNI's 14 titles 10 of them are outright).

So again I ask, it is lonely at the top of what? You have a long way to go before you reach UNI level in terms of conference titles.

And it isn't "taking the bait", I know exactly what you are doing. I just like to argue, and arguing with SIU fans is a hell of a lot of fun...minus one douchebag on Valleytalk. You woudln't be that douchebag would you?
