Weber State is my new Number 1
My new number one, with a bullet. Fast, talented on both sides of the ball. NAU didn't help themselves with 4 turnovers (two were non-fumbles called as fumbles), but Weber took advantage of everything. The speed on offense, the play-calling, etc were the best I have seen in a long time.
Trevyn Smith is a load. Cameron Higgins tore apart the NAU secondary. McBride is an excellent coach.
Watch out Chattanooga - Weber is headed your way.

Weber #1......foking WEBER WOBBLE!....sorry D, but a win over an overrated BSC (redundant, I know) foe does not a #1 team make.....

Appa, if you get a chance to waited this team play you should do so. I don't know if they I would put them at #1 but they do look very similar to a lot of #1 teams I have seen play in the past. I'll tell you this though they are better offensively than EWU was last year and they are way better on defense Thain EWU was/is. I know your throwing out your normal bait but you will probably get a chance to see them in person in Boone this year and you are not gonna like what you see. I can se why someone would vote them #1, and I couldn't really argue with it.Appaholic wrote:Weber #1......foking WEBER WOBBLE!....sorry D, but a win over an overrated BSC (redundant, I know) foe does not a #1 team make.....

I do not envy the team that gets Weber St. in the first round.

Nor do I....I wouldn't envy playing Montana or Richmond either but I won't be voting them #1 unless they win the NC....same with Weber..grizzaholic wrote:I do not envy the team that gets Weber St. in the first round.

I'm sure they are good and I wouldn't relish playing them anytime before final game.....but #1 is a bit lofty..we stuffed EWU's offense on all but one drive. However, our pitiful special teams gave EWU opportunities which they converted into points....and our pitiful special teams will be our Achilles heel this year....missed another PAT this past Saturday...Ursus A. I can definitely understand why a lot of people wouldn't put them at #1 due to the different philosophies on what makes a #1 team for people. I personally wouldn't put them above JMU and several other teams right now but they are in the discussion in my perception. I have watched in the hundreds of playoff games in person and on TB and I just think that they are up there as one of the better teams all around that I have seen in quite a while. I just think they would play well with anybody in the top 5 right now.Appaholic wrote:

I haven't seen them play, but looking at their results (undefeated against FCS, 2 respectable losses to above average FBS schools) I think Weber is a lock for a top 4 seed if they can win out.Ursus A. Yes they remind me of THE ONLY SoCon team to do it. Good thing the SoCon finally sent the champ out here to give us a game. The record was beyond pitiful before them, and it's still pitiful with them in the mix.BigApp wrote:why? do they remind you of a certain SoCon team from last year's first round??grizzaholic wrote:I do not envy the team that gets Weber St. in the first round.

Re: Weber State is my new Number 1
With the resume' that JMU has put together this year I have them at #1 but don't discount putting Weber in the top 10 or even top 5 as they are that good. I have watched UMass, UNI, JMU, and Richmond on the TV this year and they as well balanced as any of those teams. Would they win? Who knows as you only have to be the best team on that day but I guarantee you it would be a dogfight.
Everyone talks about the schedules of JMU, App etc but, unless Big Sky teams want to take the expense of flying east or vice-versa in OOC play we won't get the chance to play CAA, Socon or MVC teams until the playoffs. Personally I loved 2004 when the Griz OOC was Maine, Sam Houston, Northern Colorado (Vincent Jackson days) and Hofstra. Fun to play all FCS teams and see how the Griz stacked up against the other conferences. If we only had unlimited budgets.

Re: Weber State is my new Number 1
Weber scored 21 points and have 400 yds against Utah. Utah is #10 in the BCS standings, that is a good job for a FCS team. Utah's great D had 2 sacks, even NAU had 3.
Half of the FBS teams Utah has played haven't even done as good as Weber.
Hawaii wasn't a bad loss either, WSU was up 17-7 at halftime. Hawaii also beat Fresno this year.
As for Weber's game against NAU and UM, they both had 4 turnovers, I dont remember the UM game but Weber had one guy force 2 fumbles so it wasn't exactly dumb luck on the part of Weber.
Weber had a weak couple OOC games but over all they've looked great minus the UNC game - near 600 yds but scored only 17 because of turnovers. It was the only game with high turnovers this year.
If they can win out they will be undefeated in FCS.

And you're right....I can live with a Joe Burchette team dealing with that "travel" dilemma, snow, and the mighty Wa/Griz and losing by 3 in OT to one of the better all-time Montana teams......so, you're HS stadium is worth 1 pt, the weather 1 pt, and the travel 1pt......doesn't bode well for you guys if you have to leave Missoula......and I really hope we get the chance to play this year....we'll beat the griz like a rented mule.....

Watching weber state play i believe that they could compete with any of the other conferences top teams. They have a bruising running back, an unbelievable Sophmore QB, a great line, decent D and a dangerous returner/WR in Etuatui. The socon this year isnt as strong outside APP State and Wofford. GS is to inconsistent to call them good. I think Weber will surprise a few people this year, especially those "App state is better then everyone no matter what" fans. Seriously, take away your QB and....yup no one. Oh and no offense Appholic if your going to talk shit on WA-Griz maybe you should get your facts straight. Your stadium compared to it looks like a highschool stadium compared to an nfl stadium, maybe you should do some research before you talk shit.

Well just to be sure i looked at your stadium on your website with a full capacity crowd and then Wa-Griz....difference is huge. And fine it may be your opinion, but one that makes no sense whatsoever to anyone else im sure.
