native is a teabagger. I'm sure there are some others that are afraid to admit it.

And, like them or not they are a new political movement that is worth berating if you have an interest in politics.

I can agree with that. They're are worth berating. Especially if you have a sense of humor.

Fair enough. But, stop capitalizing "Tea Party" until you can provide a platform. :kisswink:

Well, I should have said official... so, you got me there.

But, I wouldn't be shocked if that's what it ended up looking like... because it would only be fitting that you could fit the whole platform on a flimsy cardboard sign. :kisswink:

Heck, the libs are infiltrating the Tea Parties to try to make them look bad. So anytime you see an alledged Tea Partier with a misspelled sign, making racist remarks, or making outlandish claims in an interview, good chance its a lib infiltrator:

"Opponents of the Tea Party movement say they want to bring down the group from the inside out by making members appear to be racist, homophobic and moronic. The Web site crashtheteaparty.org describes the mission as: "whenever possible, we will act on behalf of the Tea Party in ways which exaggerate their least appealing qualities — misspelled protest signs, wild claims in TV
interviews — to further distance them from mainstream America and damage the public's opinion of them...."

People that clamor for attention usually get it...
Why is it so confusing that the loudest and most obnoxious attention seekers are actually getting attention..?

The question is: Are the folks with the stupid posters the fringe of the tea party or is the tea party itself the fringe?

My guess is the answer to the first one is probably closer to the truth than many would like to believe. But I don't know. Never been to one of their meetings and other than what we discuss here, I don't read a lot about them. I just know when I go to a party  with a lot of people, there usually is a fringe element. :)

there are a lot of people who are made as hell at what the politicians have done that might have some mutual agreements with the tea party but would never consider themself a part of it.

It is interesting to compare the tea Party rallies to the anti-war rallies.
There were less than 8,000 at the Nevada tea Party rally. In spite of the low turnout CNN and FoxNews gave them all day coverage. Compare this to the anti-war demonstrations against the war in Iraq which drew hundreds of thousands people. (Hundreds of Thousands) CNN had some coverage of it, while FoxNews didn't cover it at all.

So when I hear 89Hen ask why are "we" so obsessed with the Tea Party...
A more appropriate question might be:
"Why is the premier conservative news source so obsessed with the Tea Party

:coffee:

Got to jazz up the base. Outside of the fringe of the tea party, if they are truly a conservative movement :? then most people who agree with the tea party (or think they agree with the tea party or sympathize on some issues), aren't going to go to the parties. They are simply going to vote

Also, it is hell of a lot easier to get jacked up about war. Screaming about whether the federal government has once again exceeded is constitutional authority is a snoozer for most people.

Interesting in that we have one of the lowest personal income tax rates of any developed country on the planet.

So the tea baggers desire that we regress to a third world type place where anarchy rules the day?

If your platform needs more than a cardboard sign to list your platform, then you dont get the part about small government.

And that surprises nobody...............

Interesting if we used that logic, then we would be the most developed country if we have the highest rates.

So since we spend the highest % of our GDP on healthcare expenses, looks like the WHO would have our healthcare system ranked as the best in the world.

Coincidentally, Canada is "ranked" much higher than the United States by the WHO, but their citizens (and government officials) are continuously crossing the border to receive healthcare here. :?

HINT to OSBF...a pro socialized medicine organization is not going to rank a free market based healthcare system very high.
