Re: BASEBALL
well im officially nervous about the liberty-coastal series. im realistically hoping liberty walks away winning 1 of the 3 games and staying in the fight in the 2 games lost to coastal. at the same time im excited because the big south is great in baseball this yr(coastal, liberty, vmi, and i havn't really paid attenion to the other schools so i don't no how they're doing). for once the conference can actually get noticed for something. i think the BS will be the same way in football next yr with 2 maybe 3 schools (liberty, stony brook) giving a wake up call to the rest of the FCS. Im not saying they'll be top 10 but im hoping whoever doesnt get the BS autobid does well enough in the OOC to get an at-large. we'll see.

CCU wins their 15th consecutive game. They shut down the 6th I believe ranked team in batting average.
CCU is now 34-5 (12-0)
A three pitcher shut out.
Great job!

Re: BASEBALL
CCU drops to 36-6 (14-0) after a 6-3 loss on the road to #1 Virginia. CCU gave up a 2-out grand slam in the 2nd (a rally that started w/ noone on and 2 out). The loss snaps CCU's 17 game win streak.

App beats Wake Forest 10-5 today to move to 31-8-1. According to the latest Bracketology, we're the first team out but we still got series with Elon and CofC which will be huge.

As usual, the SoCon will get only one at-large bid and it won't be Appy this year.

Re: BASEBALL
I tend to agree. While App has a great OOC, their SoCon record excludes. The OOC is kinda weak but them winning those is keeping the RPI respectable. (currently @ 41). All things considered, 5th place in your conference won't cut it.CitadelGrad wrote:As usual, the SoCon will get only one at-large bid and it won't be Appy this year.
TheCit is sitting in prime position, to get in. 1st in SoCon and 32 RPI. CoC in 2nd and 39 RPI is cutting close. (do you have a conference championship?)
The SLC had a chance @ 3 in until conference play reared its head. Now, even getting an at-large is becoming a bit precarious. If TXST wins the SLC but loses the tourney, I see us getting that at-large. If we win both, an at-large for the conf could go either way. Right now the SLC title is still up for grabs. Teams that were in polls, all this time, have now fallen out, since conference play.
As I said way earlier, in the season, you may not respect us in football, but it's one tough Baseball conference.
(I'm still half asleep. went to bed @ 3 AM, and I may not be making sense so I'll STFU)
Re: BASEBALL
Another current bracket has App in along with WCU, CofC and El Cit.
App has series left @ Elon and vs CofC which will be huge for at-large hopes. The conference tourney is the top 8 teams divided into two four-team double-elimination tournaments and the winners play in the Championship game. It's going to be tough as the top 7 teams in the SoCon are good enough to beat each other up.

With 7 Conf games left, 6 teams are within 4 games of each other. The overall strength and parity has the SLC beating up on each other.

The America East Tournament opened today at Binghamton Univ. Stony Brook defeated Maine 10-1 and will play Albany on Thursday at 3pm. SBU came into the Tournamant as the 3rd seed but the team is pumped for a Title. In the double elimination both top seeded Binghamton and 2nd seed Maine both now have 1 loss. So SBU will be in good shape with a win over Albany.

Re: BASEBALL
UT - ranked right up there, has lost their 1st 2 games in their round-robin-tourney and will not play for the championship of the Big XII tourney.
We are by no means safe at 1-1 in ours but it's good to see UT lose and just felt like gloating a little. They aren't playing at home, so I'm not surprised. There's an umpire thing that goes on when teams have to play them in Austin, conscious or not, I've seen it happen.....more than once.
