Choi was arrested for chaining himself to the fence and anytime something like this happens. The park area around the White House gets closed all the time, I think the big stink that is being made here is that they 'pushed' the crowd/media back further than they normally would. They shut down a Tea Party rally the same way last year when one of the members "breached" the fence.
The two times I walked Pennsylvania Ave. (once under Clinton, and once under Bush-pre 9/11), there were protesters making a disturbance. In the Clinton incident, a woman who appeared to be "homeless" was sitting next to the fence trying to tie herself to it, while the police were attempting to remove her. Citizens walked around, and stood and watched, as the woman was being arrested. The police ignored the civilians even though some of the videotaped and photographed the incidents. PA was left open, as was the park.
There was NO THREAT to the public in yesterday's incident, and no need to close the park. This was censorship.
