NFL Draft?!

What in the hell has this become? In all seriousness it should be a good time for potential players, teams, and fans alike but it has become a 3 ring circus. What used to be accomplished in two short days has become a 3 day spectacle with, what I am sure will be no less than 1,200 commercials. I understand that the players that these teams draft have high hopes of accomplishing the great goal of advancing and winning the Super Bowl but does one really need 3 days of it? And how many minutes does each team really need to make one selection in the first round? REALLY!

These potential players have all done their workouts and meetings and had their lives gone over with a microscope. They know what they bring to the table, as do the owners and fans and Jenny from down the block. Has this really become about the almighty advertising dollar? The more coverage that the draft can generate the networks will generate more revenue by way of commercials, banners, etc....

How many broadcasters, side-line reporters, draft pros, coaches, fans, dogs and cats, etc... will be in the draft room to analyze each pick this year?

I don't watch it either but it does get a lot of interest from fans and that means more spectacle, reporters, and hoopla. It has become what a good segment of the population has asked for.

Hey, they wouldn't do it if people weren't watching it.

As for me, I'll watch a good chunk of it tonight and over the next few days - drafts are always cool and it's fun to see what teams do and what holes they fill. It may not be for you, but obviously there are plenty more people out there who feel otherwise.

Actually they cut the time down in the first round to 10 minutes. I think they're capitalizing on the fact that most people only watch the first round.

It's just another reason why I'm not a big fan of the NFL. I'll take NCAA football (any level) over it any day.

I went with NFLN about 10 picks in on Thursday night. I couldn't stand to hear that fucking Jay-Z/Alicia Keys POS song any more. Not to mention, ESPN cut to commercial every five minutes while NFLN would go a few picks in between ads.
