Armanti Edwards to the Carolina Panthers:
3rd Round, 89th pick overall.
Big question is... how do they use him? Will they give him a shot at QB?

3rd round for him is very impressive! The man is a square peg in an NFL round world. He doesn't fit; but he needs to be forced in there. I'm hoping he is a kick returner and wildcat package man.

I doubt if he'll get a serious shot at QB. He'll be like Antwan Randal El. He'll get his touches, but I doubt if he'll be a full time NFL QB.Skjellyfetti wrote:3rd Round, 89th pick overall.

I hope I'm wrong.

Yeah, I know it's a big ? whether he can play QB in the NFL. If I just drafted him, I'd give him a shot at it, though. Panthers GM says he won't be on the QB depth chart... so it sounds like he won't even get a chance. That doesn't make much sense to me... but, oh well.BlueHen86 wrote:I doubt if he'll get a serious shot at QB. He'll be like Antwan Randal El. Here's some other quotes from Hurney:
Hurney: "Armanti is a projection, but the versatility he brings - he is an athlete, a football player & plays w/ intensity & toughness."
Hurney on Edwards: "He's a competitive, tough football player and we think he can help us in several areas."
"We came into this draft hoping that we could find a way to get him." -- Hurney on Edwards
"He (Edwards) is a receiver who can do a lot of different things," Hurney said. Added that Edwards will not be on QB depth chart.
"You just get a feeling about him that gives you a feeling that he's going to be a very good player." - Hurney, still talking about Edwards
"He (Edwards) plays the game big. We think he's a heck of a football player." -- Hurney

The Panthers also drafted Clausen. There is no way that they'll use Edwards at QB. They obviously see some football talent in him, but not at QB. The important thing is that he get playing time, regardless of the position.Skjellyfetti wrote:Yeah, I know it's a big ? whether he can play QB in the NFL. Re: Armanti Edwards to the Carolina Panthers:
The one great thing about this is that the Panthers have a vision for him, hence why they traded up for him.
Plus a 2nd round pick next year might be useless with the lockout so they're going for broke now.

Come on Armanti! Show em you can beat out Clausen. That would be the most amazing thing ever. Fuck Clausen. Give AE a chance, Panthers!
They won't and that is why I hate the Panthers...

As a life long Notre Dame fan, I hope Jimmy Clausen wins out...as a lifelong FCS fan, I would love to see Edwards get a shot.CrackerRiley wrote:Come on Armanti! Show em you can beat out Clausen. That would be the most amazing thing ever. Fuck Clausen. Give AE a chance, Panthers!
