I see what Col. is saying and totally agree. I can't find any solace in either side on these political arguments any more kalm because proponents on either side try to just deflect and point. I really used to have a very high opinion of dback's savvy political nature, and certain others with their political arguments because they made me change my mind on nuances of issues by being very informative and taking the emotion out of the retorts. It is just disappointing to see them act exactly like their counterparts. Still have much love for the learned dback but his tactics have changed quite a bit in the last couple of years.

These poli arguments still serve ot inform a little but it really turns into a monkey's throwing **** contest quickly and it is hard to hold either "team" in high esteem

One side or the other bitches about things like this while the other is in power and then turn right around and defend just as the other side did once they're side is in power. It's pretty **** sickening the lack of integrity on what you believe to be wrong just based on whether your guy is in there or not.

It was a deflection and it is wrong no matter who is in there.

Don't disagree, but dback wasn't defending his side. He's simply implying that it's wrong regardless.

Ursus,
If you can't have fun watching a bunch of monkeys throwing sh!t... when can you have fun..?

Introducing reasonable evidence supporting ones argument has ceased to work properly - so instead - it's more fun to just throw sh!t back and forth... or better yet: why wait for the argument to disintegrate into senseless banter - just use The Citdog or D1B approach (as I like to call it) and start off the debate calling people names... in other words "attack first" throwing sh!t

Recently native referred to me as "a worthless dick head" now I know that's a reasonably accurate assessment but he meant it to be harmful and I considered pretending like I was offended.. either way: The Game was ON..!!

Agreed...!!!
it would be nice if on a few occasions some "solid factual information" was inserted into the debate...
but too much of that and you'll chase away 90% of the political board posters...

Facts have always served to dampen a good argument :ohno:

Keep reading books and living in the old days, kalm...one day you will understand how this world works. Money rules.

Money creates demand where it wants...demand comes second and goes unanswered if it can't make a buck...and often times when it can make a buck but won't when money simply wants to ignore it.

Unlimited number of examples where "demand" was artifically created by people with money. Unlimited number of examples, big and small, where "demand" was never met...and never created a single job.

Money rules, kalm. Nothing you can say can change that.

Your economics is really good when it comes to monopolies, corruption, feudalism, and the unintended consequences of globabism. But when it comes to democracy and higher standards of living...not so much.

I'm sorry you hate books and history Clucks. So here's a current event for you. :thumb:
Decades of inexpensive imports – especially rice from the U.S. – punctuated with abundant aid in various crises have destroyed local agriculture and left impoverished countries such as Haiti unable to feed themselves.

While those policies have been criticized for years in aid worker circles, world leaders focused on fixing Haiti are admitting for the first time that loosening trade barriers has only exacerbated hunger in Haiti and elsewhere.

They're led by former U.S. President Bill Clinton – now U.N. special envoy to Haiti – who publicly apologized this month for championing policies that destroyed Haiti's rice production. Clinton in the mid-1990s encouraged the impoverished country to dramatically cut tariffs on imported U.S. rice.

"It may have been good for some of my farmers in Arkansas, but it has not worked. It was a mistake," Clinton told the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on March 10. "I had to live everyday with the consequences of the loss of capacity to produce a rice crop in Haiti to feed those people because of what I did; nobody else."

You must be kidding. Standards of living are better than ever in almost every part of the world...in great part due to the world being open to other markets. These days people are considered poor if they don't own sneakers...even Goodwill doesn't want to collect any clothes that are a little worn. Wouldn't want to embarrass anyone by having a small stain on the back or a small wear mark on the elbows.

Back to your little story. Let me get this straight: Haiti was growing rice...prices dropped when the "free market" got in the way...people got rice from somewhere else...liberal do-gooders, who constantly advocate rushing aid to others, made things worse by handing out free food...and now Haiti can't grow food? And you are blathering that the big, bad global market is to blame?

Haiti certainly has a large demand for food amongst their people...so where are the jobs producing food?

C'mon, klean, answer this question: Why can't Haiti grow rice, or anything else, to feed themselves, anymore?

BTW, I LOVE history! Poli-Sci and Geography majors while minoring in History. :thumb: People are interesting...group behavior, in the form of social bonds and governance is especially fascinating.

Racist Eric Holder: Update

Post by travelinman67 »

Civil Rights Commission's investigation into the decision to drop the conviction judgement against the New Black Panther thugs caught intimidating voters in 2008...

...former Justice attorney J. Christian Adams spills the beans on Holder.

Dude makes Meese seem saintly.

Ex-Official Accuses Justice Department of Racial Bias in Black Panther Case
Published July 06, 2010

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2010/07 ... ther-case/
In emotional and personal testimony, an ex-Justice official who quit over the handling of a voter intimidation case against the New Black Panther Party accused his former employer of instructing attorneys in the civil rights division to ignore cases that involve black defendants and white victims.

J. Christian Adams, testifying Tuesday before the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights, said that "over and over and over again," the department showed "hostility" toward those cases. He described the Black Panther case as one example of that -- he defended the legitimacy of the suit and said his "blood boiled" when he heard a Justice official claim the case wasn't solid.

"It is false," Adams said of the claim.

"We abetted wrongdoing and abandoned law-abiding citizens," he later testified.

The department abandoned the New Black Panther case last year. It stemmed from an incident on Election Day in 2008 in Philadelphia, where members of the party were videotaped in front of a polling place, dressed in military-style uniforms and allegedly hurling racial slurs while one brandished a night stick...

...The Civil Rights Commission, which subpoenaed Adams, has been probing the incident since last year. Adams said he ignored department directives not to testify and eventually quit after he heard Assistant Attorney General
Thomas Perez testify that there were concerns the Black Panther case was not supported by the facts.

Adams has described the case as open-and-shut and said Tuesday that it was a "very low moment" to hear Perez make that claim.

But he described the department's hostility toward that and other cases involving black defendants as "pervasive." Adams cited hostility in the department toward a 2007 voting rights case against a black official in Mississippi who was accused of trying to intimidate voters. Adams said that when the Black Panther case came up, he heard officials in the department say it was "no big deal" and "media-generated" and point to "Fox News" as the source.

But as the investigation unfolded, he said he discovered "indications" that the Black Panther Party was doing the "same thing" to supporters of former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton during the Democratic primary season in early 2008. He urged the commission to pursue testimony from other Justice officials to corroborate his story.

It's unclear how far the commission will get. The commissioners want to hear from Christopher Coates, the former chief of the Justice Department's voting section, but the commission claims the Justice Department is blocking Coates from testifying about why the case was dropped.

Ok then, I think I will change my jello wrestling lineup of liberal gunches.

I'd let Sotomeyer and Cynthia McKinney duke it out (the "talk to the hand" pre-fight warmup will be entertaining) and let the winner hold the bowl on Elena Kagan's head for her next haircut.
