So whatcha guys think, government intimidation or completely appropriate? I think they could've definitely done this one without the Big Brother overtone. I mean, "FIND US BEFORE WE FIND YOU." with the "YOU" circled?

Agreed. This approach doesn't really inspire one to run out and pay their back taxes as much as a simple "why don't you pay up and avoid more harassment from us later" approach. If anything, this commercial will now be a rallying cry for tax cheats.

Really, really stupid - it's one thing to promote a tax amnesty window with pointed reminders about the penalties for non-compliance, it's another thing entirely to go all Big Brother on the population, especially in these times. I want to be comfortable with surveillance cameras for security (like in Times Square), to catch thieves, and even to nail red-light runners, but this is crossing the line.

It's only a matter of time before somebody comes up with the obvious response - a sinister Youtube video turning the tables and showing where the government officials live...
