I have what equates to "battered wife syndrome" where I just keep coming back to Ursus...

If you've got an extra $1500-$1800 you want to spend, you might be able to get Jean-Michel Bosquiat's, The Offs...

John we spend hundreds of billions on aircraft that have never even left the flight hangar... so what if some guy with a couple extra billion in his personal checking account want's a piece of immortality..?

:geek:
I created a masterpiece that looked exactly like Jackson Pollock's No. 5 in elementary school when we were told to paint whatever we felt like. I got an F and had to stay after class and talk to the art teacher about it. I then had to write 100 times that "Throwing paint randomly on the canvas is not art"♦

I do not agree with JSO on a lot of things but in this case he is spot on. The Emporer has no chlothes. Maybe they are difficult chothes?

Yeah, but so does Cleets. True appreciation of art requires deep knowledge of the history of art, art movements, personal life of the artist, etc.. People were saying similar shit bout Van Goh. His shit is insane.

JSO couldn't paint anything remotely close to any of Picasso's paintings. It's harder than it looks.

Yes indeed a true master. Best ever, IMO. I have several Dali Prints in my condo.

I'm also a member of the Dali Museam in St. Petersburgh, Fla.

I am not saying that Pablo had no talent. Looking at his early works with the bold lines and vibrant colors they have a lot of similarities to Van Gogh's work. What I am trying to say is that true appreciation of art requires deep knowledge and deep pockets. What Vincent painted to buy his next meal Picasso painted to buy his next estate. That was his true talent.

I agree. General approval of the art community is good. Wealthy benefactors and collectors are priceless. Van G. was ahead of his time and essentially painted in vacuum.

Dali was even better at self promotion.

A little bit of Phoenix Zoo fail:
In 1996, when she was 22, The decision was made to breed her, to provide her with companionship. Ruby was shipped to the Tulsa Zoo to mate with a male elephant named Sneezy (who still lives in Tulsa) and lived in Tulsa for about a year. When she became pregnant in 1997, she was returned to Phoenix.

At the end of October 1998, Ruby began to show signs of labor, but the birth didn't start. On Halloween, the zoo's veterinarians determined that her calf had died in her womb, and the decision was made to perform a Caesarean operation. When surgery began on November 6, it was discovered that her uterus had ripped and a massive infection had spread through her abdominal cavity. Her male fetal calf weighed 320 pounds, twice the size of a normal newborn elephant.[2]

Ruby was euthanized immediately and her death triggered an outpouring of grief throughout the Phoenix area.

I was turned away from art at an early age by that same art teacher. I was told that doing those types of things was not proper art, and was given an F on every assignment because I didn't match her idea of what things should look like. I can't draw people, fruit, houses, or whatever else. Those than can, to me, are true artists. Those who just throw paint at a canvas based on how their feeling, that isn't art to me. Anyone can take a couple gallons of paint, a 8 foot by 4 foot canvas laid on the floor, a couple of brushes and turn out something very similar to those types of paintings.

Shit 93 and dback turned out almost identical looking paintings from MS paint, and they probably took them a couple minutes at the most.

They don't get rich or famous because they make good art. They make horrible shit art but are famous for other reasons. Then they get rich because people want to own something created by the famous person.

What does it matter that you were turned away at an early age? You still have the ability to throw paint right? Seems like you've got all the tools in spite of one teachers limited perspective so get on with it.
