It's all hand painted. As for the size not much I can do. I don't free hand it, I sized a logo to an 8x11 piece of paper full size and traced it from there onto the board to paint. Stickers cost to much to use and I cant get Purples to match. I can't free hand for shit so it has to be some form of tracing.

My boards are the standard 4x2 size. I'll likely use the same design and try to enlarge the logo some how

Willie can you dos mock up of what you would like to see? On my old boards the stripe was 1 inch thick and started 3 inches from the edge of the boards. That left me 16 inches from stripe to stripe to add a logo and it was centered between the bottom of the hole to the inside of the stripe on the bottom

This was quick but something like this could be cool.

What are the dimensions of all of that? I have a projector lined up so I can put down a bigger logo.

How thick are the lines? How far from the edge? How thick is the yellow around the hole (not sure i'd pull that off though)?

Ooph...I didn't do it to actual scale but...I'd say put the lines 2.5" from the edge, 1.5" thick. The circle around the hole would be 1.5" thick too if you got that ambitious.

That could work. I did the math and it all seems to work. I would still have the same amount of space to fit the logo in between, so I would have to try to do something else with the logo. I could always shrink the lines to one inch, which would give me an extra inch to stretch the logo into.

I'm going to go guy the new wood, and more paint today, so I'll see what I can do with that design. I really like that. I'll put "Design inspired by Willie" on the board somewhere.

Shame he's a hawkeye fan. But nice looking boards.

Decent looking boards though. Will those stickers cause any "interference" over time? i.e. when the bag lands on the board, will the raised edges of the stickers provide traction for the bag to stop sliding downward or will the extra smooth surface cause more slippage? Just a thought. But I guess that's why you'd have "homecourt" advantage.

DJ-

Glad someone finally got that one.....

I guess the stickers create an advantage like having a favorite golf course - local knowledge. Lord knows I can use every advantage I can get.

I used the same Helmsman product OVER the stickers after they were applied, and held up really well. We had a bunch of home games last year, plus brought them to the WM basketball tailgate in Williamsburg, and the finish is mostly intact, but will need to gently sand off a few rough spots and recoat.

New tops for the boards bought. I got a little thicker top, to prevent shit like this from happening again. Hopefully that will help with the bounce some bags take.

I got more purple, and a deeper gold to use. I'm going to sand it down and throw a coat or two of Killz Primer/Sealer/Stainblocker on the boards. Hopefully this will help the purple set a little darker and richer this time.

My mother-in-law is the AD and tech coordinator for the school district she works for, so she has offered to give me free reign over the projectors and whatever else I need to get the logo thrown on bigger than last time.

I'm going to get the Killz on tonight, and maybe a the first coat of purple. I'm planning on putting 3 or 4 coats of purple on, letting the purple cure for a couple days, then throwing the yellow stripes on. This will take me much longer than the first set did. I'm hoping these turn out even better than my last set.

I just bought my wood today and sort of started construction...my mountain time was more important today since I was predator hunting (*cough* wolves *cough*). I'll do a picture update with each phase.

Looks similar to the wood I bought. I got a 4x8" sheet of 3/4" BLOW plywood.

I bought 2 sheets of 2x4' 1/2".

I went cheap on the last boards, which is part of the reason for the break. The odl tops were only 1/4 inch thick, I bought some 1/2'' this time to put on there.

Here are the "A hole" boards my brother built and gave me for Christmas last year. They're the best I've seen, but you've got to be a sniper to hit the hole on this one - not much room for error with the shape.

Started basic construction of my table today. Drew the stencil freehand last night and cut it out today.

And I just realized that there's a wood grain pattern above the UM that looks like...well you be the judge.

The primer will definitely cause me to have to use more paint on the boards. I'm 2, albeit thin, coats of paint in and I have a ways to go before I get them to match the baseboards

I got 2 coats of primer on and now 2, maybe 3 I don't remember, coats of paint on it. As you can see from the picture, yes it is crappy it's from my shitty cell phone, it is going to take a couple more coats of purple to get them dark enough.

I friend of mine is also making boards and bought a 6 inch drill bit. That was a whole lot easier than using a stinking jig saw to put them in.

Image

I also got a darker yellow to use. I did some tests on scrap wood to see which yellow looked better, the original yellow I had (Golden Echo) or the new Yellow I bought (Rise-N-Shine) and it is clear that the Rise N Shine ( ) looks much better.

Got the basic shape done, with wood left over to do a 2nd table if I get that ambitious. Still need to do more sanding and then the 1st coat of paint can go on.

I got a wild idea and am gonna run with it. Design is changing quite a bit. I just didn't wanna deal with letters again like I did with my last table. You'll have to click on the image to see the ends of the table.

It's meant to look a bit like a basketball court since you are "shooting" the balls into the cups. It was just my way of cleaning up open space without having to freehand more goddamn letters.
