Why do you even care? SUU isn't on the EC. :ohno: Absolutely NOTHING for you to comment on.

Define "best". I like the Hens OOC because all three are in Newark and there are two teams coming that have never been there, including a top 10 team in South Dakota State. :thumb:

Your little snide shit about SUU is uncalled for. You don't know shit about any team out this way. Keep your "knowledge" comments to the EC teams. Thanks, and go jump off a bridge.

frinq wrote:Talk about bad left-over schedules, fast-talking Jerry Glanville set us up to play Arizona State, Davis, and Oregon this year. Portland State has a new coach, a new offense and a new defense, and a 2-9 record last year. We're supposed to play them tough?! OK, maybe ASU - they weren't much last year. And Davis, maybe. But UO will be top ten this year - we'll be massacred. Truth is, there's absolutely no knowing how good or bad we'll be until the season starts. But common sense says we'll be 0-3 come the end of September. This is a terrible schedule.
Glanville didn't set us up to play all three, just Arizona State (which came as a package Pac-10 deal Glanville put together). We play Davis home and home almost every year so that game is a given. The Ducks are the ones who threw a monkey wrench into it (them and Salem let them as well). They needed a game and kind of railroaded us into it. We tried to move ASU to next year (and also tried to get the Ducks to help us with it), but ASU didn't want to play us next year. From what I've heard, we were set up to play either Western or Southern again at home that week, but we get the Ducks. Oregon is allowing our season ticket holders a ticket to the game in return for taking the home game away.

For what its worth, this gives us a bye week between non-conference games and conference games.

I would define best as having solid FCS teams and/or competative FBS games. No DII. By my definition the hardest schedule is out.

What is Delaware's schedule? I don't see it posted.

I admit I look at these through the eyes of a Griz fan, so what I define as a competative game may not be the same as what a Garner Webb fan defines as a competative game.

I was being somewhat facetious, but not totally. I'm in a minority of Hen fans that doesn't mind our OOC schedule. Duquesne, West Chester (DII) and South Dakota State all come to the Tub to open the season. Replace WC with a weak DI and I would love our OOC slate. SDSU should be a top 10 team and combine them with Villanova, W&M, JMU, Richmond... that's enough Top 25 competition until playoff time. These teams that say they wish they could play Montana, AppSt, McNeese, etc... OOC simply don't see the big picture... PLAYOFFS. :)

I was, and still am, of the volition that if you schedule yourselves a loss (i.e., you play a BCS school), you should really schedule yourselves a win as well (A D-II school not named Central Washington for example). Once schools have to play two upper division games (PSU, ISU, and WSU) comes to mind, it does make the playoffs harder to reach (and realistically I'm talking about the Wildcats here). It's why the playoff expansion was really a good move...because now a 7-4 team has a shot still...you aren't totally done with four losses ... if they are the right four losses.

First we put a butt-kicking on that FCS juggernaut, Savannah State on September 4th. Then we get a lesson on how the flexbone option is played at Navy on September 11th. Then on to Conway on the 18th to take on the beach chickens.

If you schedule 2 losses then you better schedule a winnable FCS because a DII doesn't count to get you in the playoffs and with the number of 7-4 win teams to chose from the one with 7 DI wins is getting in.

Look at SUU this year. A middle maybe low middle pack FCS. With 2 likely FBS losses and a DII on schedule it is unlikely they'll make the play offs. With the right scheduling they would have a good chance at the playoffs. Trade Dixie and Wyo for Sac state/PSU/Northwestern/Nichols/central arkansas and you have a good schedule with play off possibilities

NDSU's will most likely consist of:

At Kansas
Vs South Dakota
Vs Morgan State

Not the toughest, but we play in a tough conference.

Lions could have the team to go through that 4-0

Just beat Tulane please.

BearIt,

Yes, if you schedule yourself two losses (FBS teams) and you have playoff aspirations, then you want a winnable FCS game so that you are 1-2 non-conference nad then can go 6-2 in league play and get in (just an example). I was refering to if you play one up game, I think you schedule yourself one win, either a down game or someone you know you can beat on the FCS level...

Excellent point, and one I didn't really make clear...kudos.

I'm not convinced you beat NAU either, so I have 3 wins. I'm not shure where you are getting your 7
